for South Carolina.. Its interesting and is great insight.. but lonely by yourself.. do it with a few friends ... keeps you motivated to keep dialing after the bad phone calls.

5. I think it's good that they give you a script. I would advise that you get familiar, so you don't

READ it.

I phonebanked for Edwards in 03-04. I thought it was important to sound friendly (but not TOO friendly), and upbeat about your candidate. And you have to follow the lead of the person you're calling. If they're not interested, just say thank you for your time, and I still hope you'll consider voting for John Edwards.

But they probably tell you how to handle various scenarios in the script.

Try it out on friends and family first!

there is a reason it is put together as it is. Of course if they want to talk and you want to (we told people at the phone bank we ran in '04) go ahead and talk to them. You should have some fun doing it too.

6. Just be yourself -

Most likely you will have a script - I did it the weekend before last. We were inviting people to an Edwards rally in Myrtle Beach. This time it will probably be asking if they are planning to vote on Saturday and could Senator Edwards count on their support. Some will tell you that they are undecided, so at that point, ask if they have any questions about the Edwards campaign you could answer (they may direct you to a pdf with his policy stands in a nutshell) or if they are supporting someone else, tell them you respect their decision and thank them for their time. If they are supporting Edwards, you may want to chat about what a darn nice guy he is and how wonderful his plans are for taking the country forward - and then find out if they need assistance getting to the polls. There will probably be a number for them to call about arranging a ride. After the first couple of calls, you somewhat get into a rhythm. I enjoyed it - and I can't stress enough, Just Be Yourself. That is more important than anything, I think the people on the other end enjoy knowing that they are talking to a genuine supporter.

AFter about 5 or 10 calls you will find your style.

If someone gets nasty with you just thank them and hang up. Don't make it personal and don't TAKE it personal.

Anyone can do it.

10. That's a tough one -

I used my cell phone which has a national plan and free night and weekend minutes. I don't know about a land line. Maybe your friend can borrow a cell phone?

Stand Up for John Today...Phone calls to SC!

Today, Friday is the day before the South Carolina Primary. One thing everyone across the country can do to help..... is to call South Carolina voters.

Act quickly! Volunteers are still needed to make last minute phone calls.

GET SC CAMPAIGN OFFICE AND CONTACT INFO HERE - CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY SINCE TIME IS SHORT!

The various campaign offices can email phone numbers and contacts for you to call. You can also look under the "Actions section on the John Edwards homepage" to sign up to make phone calls......However, for tomorrow, I would contact one of the SC offices directly as we are down to the wire.

I know the Myrtle Beach (Horry County) & the Georgetown County Offices have some calls that need to be made. The other offices in the State as well.

All of the polls show John surging in South Carolina, everyone pitch in and help make sure all of the voters turnout on Saturday.
