CapitalFax: Why this photo matters (Clinton/Rezko)
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 11:53 AM by wndycty
Rich Miller who writes this blog knows what he talks about re: Illinois State House politics and procedures:

Why this photo matters

Friday, Jan 25, 2008

* I posted this photo earlier this morning for a reason…

* In reality, this photo means nothing. Hillary Clinton is absolutely right that she’s taken thousands of photos with people over the decades. She’s also right to point out that, unlike Obama, she never had a longterm relationship with Tony Rezko.

* That being said, however, the leak of this pic is precisely the same thing that Hillary and Bill Clinton have been doing to Obama for weeks.

For instance, here’s a story from the AP…

Asked to name a weakness, Obama mentioned his messy desk and reliance on staff. Clinton faulted him for it, saying she was better prepared to oversee the government bureaucracy.

* The Clintons have flat-out lied about Obama’s “Present” votes on abortion bills to make him somehow look anti-choice. They have twisted his comments on Republicans and Ronald Reagan beyond recognition to make him look like a traitor to his party. They even leaked opposition research to a gullible LA Times reporter about how Obama had changed his vote on a few bills.
-snip-

ON EDIT: Note that Rich is not blinding defending Obama, he pleads with him to come clean on the Rezko real estate deal.

edit: I'm an Edwards supporter.

People who get to pose like this are big contributors. Where is the story behind the picture?

4. No they are not! My aunt has a picture of her with the Bush 1 couple.
She never contributed to any campaign. She was with a group of nurses in Washington DC who were touring or something and got a photo-op. This kind of thing happens - it isn't always money related...

7. This IS a 'donor shot.' The question is, who were the Clintons helping?
It's not uncommon for the President to run around and give speeches and raise money for others as well as himself.

A quick look at Rezko's donations over the years might provide clarity.

17. Not all shots are "donor shots." When Monkey goes to a hospital and
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 12:53 PM by MADem
has his pic taken with staff, that's not a donor shot--that is a photo op. The idea of the shot is to make the principal (in this case, the Monkey) look like a "regular guy" who interfaced with "real people." Your auntie was used as a prop for GHW and Babsie in order to make people think they were human!

This kind of shot is a "Been There, MET That" shot. I want to know who he gave money to, though, in order to get that pic. Those automatically assuming the dough went to Clinton might be mistaken.

I'm looking at poor Senator Clinton's hair, as well as Bill, and that looks 'first term' to me, certainly.

ON EDIT--MATT LAUER has cleared it up for us, apparently: http://rawstory.com/news/2007/NBC_confronts_Hillary_with_slum_lord_0125.html

:: This man, he made a contribution to the dnc back in march of 2000.

5. I'd love to know where it was taken. It shouldn't be hard to see where
Rezko's money went, after all.

It doesn't look like it was taken in the WHITE HOUSE. They usually do those in the Oval Office, or some location where it is EVIDENT where the pic was shot (so the donor doesn't have to say "Yeah, I went to the White House).

Could this have been taken at a fundraiser? If so, where? Illinois? Was it a fundraiser for Bill Clinton, the DNC, or was he stumping for another candidate? A governor, a senator?

8. the cheesy curtains and the American Flag plunked to the side
indicate it wasn't in the White House and perhaps was when he was campaigning for someone in Illinois. Rezko's reach of influence was centered, I believe, on Chicago and didn't really extend beyond that.

See Raw Story link just upthread..!

On edit, though--that hair doesn't match....that DOES look like first term...or earlier???

Maybe the guy was a regular donor to the DNC????
