Message from Obama Campain manager Concerning Florida:

Campaign manager David Plouffe:

No one is more disappointed that Florida Democrats will have no role in selecting delegates for the nomination of the party’s standard bearer than Senator Obama.

When Senator Clinton was campaigning in Iowa and New Hampshire, she made it clear that states like Michigan and Florida that wouldn’t produce any delegates, ‘don’t count for anything.’ Now that Senator Clinton’s worried about losing the first Southern primary, she’s using Florida for her own political gain by trying to assign meaning to a contest that awards zero delegates and where no campaigning has occurred. Senator Clinton’s own campaign has repeatedly said that this is a ‘contest for delegates’, and Florida is a contest that offers zero. Whether it is Barack Obama’s record, her position on Social Security, or even the meaning of the Florida Primary, it seems like Hillary Clinton will do or say anything to win an election. When he is the nominee, Barack Obama will campaign vigorously in Florida and Michigan to put them in the Democratic column in 2008.

1. I notice he leaves out that they have run ads in FL.
National buy or not, permission or not the Obama campaign is campaigning in FL not the Clinton campaign.

25. that all depends on what the definition of 'reached' is, now doesn't it.
Do you have proof that a significant portion of Floridians have seen Obama's ad,
or are you being dishonest...again.

You think ads on the two biggest cable news networks don't reach a significant portion of voters?

33. does reach mean 'the possibility of reaching a viewer' or 'literally reaching a viewer'?
See,
the Clintons aren't the only ones who can parse words until they mean whatever you want them to.

6. I notice you leave out that they first asked the DNC if those ads
would violate the no-campaign pledge, and the DNC said, "no."

12. Actually that was the SC Dem party head, not the DNC.
And I did note that they have permission.

They are still the only campaign with ads running in FL, are they not?

7. he leaves out that they have run ads in FL.
And what signifigance is that when the delegates arent going to be counted for any candidate?

It sounds like you want Hillary to use Floridas delegates in order to beat Obama, and you're making up any excuse to justify it.

And apparently he is lying about who said it was ok to do so

They all should have fought this months ago and been making a stink about it, if they felt strongly about it, not four days before the primary.

27. What Trap? Hillary is running desperate, trying to lock down some delegates..
since she can't win any in a contested election. Once again, she agreed to this cocept when it suited her.

29. Amateurs who thought all the candidates had agreed that
Florida's delegates would not be seated.

I have every intention of voting for Hillary. I like her and respect her. I don't like when any of our candidates break mutually agreed party rules for their own political advantage. While this may help them, it does not strengthen the party.

means. That's a very nasty charge. She's made a request. It can be granted or denied (like the National Ad by the Obama did to get on TV in FL and got permission from one person for). Stop foaming at the mouth.

34. Barack Obama doesn't care what Florida Democrats say on Jan. 29.

Obama stirs fight with Florida memo
The Clinton campaign criticizes her rival's insistence that the state's votes won't count.
By ADAM C. SMITH, Times Political Editor
Published January 16, 2008

Barack Obama doesn't care what Florida Democrats say on Jan. 29.

In a memo released Tuesday, he reiterated his long-standing view that their primary votes will be worthless. And he vaguely charged that Hillary Rodham Clinton may violate her pledge not to campaign in Florida by holding events here later this month.

"We signed a pledge not to campaign in Florida before Feb. 5, and we're not going to campaign in Florida," Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee said. "But it is disappointing that the Obama campaign continues to tell people that their voices don't count, that they continue to disenfranchise people. Hillary Clinton wants to be president of all 50 states."

The Illinois senator's memo stressed that the Democratic primaries in Michigan and Florida are meaningless because the states defied national party rules forbidding all but a handful of states from holding primary elections earlier than Feb. 5.
