Obama makes a lot of obvious mistakes as a campaigner. The thought of that weak of a general election candidate should scare us all.

I strongly doubt that Clinton would have refused to accept an endorsement from Kerry had he offered it, and would probably have made appearances with him campaigning for her, just as Obama has appeared with Kerry.

I also doubt your contention that "nobody likes Kerry, even Democrats." I haven't seen any recent polling, but I'd be willing to bet that Kerry is a moderately popular figure among Democrats, and only very unpopular with Repugs
