Michelle Obama: "We knew Barack would be competing with
Senator Clinton and President Clinton at the same time. We expected that Bill Clinton would tout his record from the nineties and talk about Hillary's role in his past success ... What we didn't expect, at least not from our fellow Democrats, are the win-at-all-costs tactics we've seen recently."

Michelle, with all due respect, because I like you and your husband, but you're not even seeing 10% of "win at all costs." If you think this is a tough and dirty campaign, it can only be because you're new to the harsh realities of national hardball politics.
If your husband gets the Demo nomination, you're going to see the most insulting and inhuman tactics that would even make Lee Atwater's skelton stand and salute. Trust me - you're getting the smooooooth velvet glove treatment right now.

1. I think they expected GOP tactics from GOP.
Not Dems.

14. Call me naive
but I thought the same. I thought our Dems would make sure eachother did not end up too tarnished in the primaries to win in the general. I was so wrong.

2. Yes, indeed.
That sums it up well, and without a trace of rancor ...

... but more people will reply if you chuck a bomb or two.

4. They're probably surprised to find Democrats reading the GOP playbook.
Lie, swiftboat, distort, smear, break rules, deny, deny, deny, rinse, repeat.

5. I think since the debate a few in the media have been scrutinizing his record a bit more closely.

7. Instead of whining, the Obamas should thank Hillary and Bill for going so easy on them so far
Hillary's been toying with Obama so far. I can't imagine how the Obamas will fare, once she really takes the gloves off.

16. LOL. Even if she wins by smearing Obama now, she'll lose BIG in November.
She'll lose Ohio to McCain 54-46. It won't be pretty.

25. Not only that.
She'll lose the following states in November if she is the nominee:

All the Southern states.
All the Mountain states.
Wisconsin.
Michigan.
Ohio.
Pennsylvania.

The 50+1 strategy will fail miserably for the Clintons.

Be careful what you wish for, Hillbots!

11. Right. Kerry was treated with kid gloves in 2004 -
Edwards was his main rival and he was super nice - and he was ill prepared for all the "flip flopping" and swifters attacks.

22. she did say this and other very outta bonds crap!
She a s well has been very vocal about playing the race card from the VERY beginning of his campaign. Go to you tube and search for the clips they are there..I'm having probs right now with my bandwidth otherwise I would get the links myself for you... there are some very interesting Harlem clips...I think Obama is just pissed that his wife doesn't garner the amount of attention Big Dog does...so they MUST go negative and Bill does use the opportunity to set the MSM and The Obama's straight...ouch!

24. Never in history did a dem - even in primaries get so much support from the media
They always tried to manipulate our primaries, but not quite like this. For people so pampered by the media to be so outraged that their opponents "want to win at all costs" it shows either naivete or sense of entitlement

Obama: 47% positive, 16% negative.
Clinton: 27% positive, 38% negative.
McCain: 12% positive, 48% negative
Giuliani: 28% positive, 37% negative
JDNE

Net numbers

Obama +31
Giuliani -9
Clinton -11
McCain -36

26. recall the disaster here in Cali. Steve Westly vs Phil Angelides
they went at each other with such fury we got Arnold again. This was also something the two dems here were warned would happen and they ignored it. The point isn't can Obama withstand the Clinton machine. The tactics being used are so damaging the repugs will use this stuff against the dem nominee in the GE. It happened here in California and leaders in the party are warning Clinton to stop it. It is disturbing to see the thinking of some who use this as a 'my candidate is better than yours' scenario, completely ignoring the BIG PICTURE.

and said the republican party was the party of ideas during the Clinton presidency.

What did they expect????
