Why is Hillary at top of ballot in Florida?
The names were not in alphabetical order, but Clinton was at the top. I had to really search the list for Obama. His name was the second from the bottom.

Wouldn't it really be more fair and impartial to actually list all the candidates names in alphabetical order?

Not that any of this is really going to matter. I have to keep reminding myself that this is FLORIDA after all.

Despite the OP's assertion that they aren't:

Sample ballot for his/her county:

I have no idea why the OP says that the aren't alphabetical.

3. Some states do a sort of lottery system
I don't know about Florida, but in some states they have the campaigns draw straws or something to determine order. There really are people out there who would change their name to Joe Aardvark in order to get listed first.

11. Florida lists them in order by last name in the primary
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 06:24 PM by kdmorris
In the General, the person who is the same party as the governor goes first (in this case, the Republican) and the other major party is supposed to follow (the Democrat) and then everyone else.

But, I don't know why the OP is lying about the ballot. They are listed in alphabetical order by last name.

Edited to remove the list of names. I don't think they are removed from the ballot if they drop out, so Obama would be second from the bottom, before Richardson. http://colliervotes.com/rwimages/Ballot/160227491.pdf

Are you just trying to boost your post count?

Edited to add a link to your county's sample ballot: http://colliervotes.com/rwimages/Ballot/160227491.pdf You can see that the names are in alphabetical order, which shows that your statement "they weren't listed in alphabetical order" is a complete lie.

10. In CT, I think the order was drawn at random.
I believe Obama followed by Kucinich are the top two names on the ballot on the DEM side.

14. It's alphabetical in Florida
You can see that, based on the sample ballot for her/his county, the names are in alphabetical order, by last name:

25. No, she was on top
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 07:31 PM by HockeyMom
I just voted today and in Naples.

Biden was in the middle along with Richardson. I think Edwards was at the bottom.

It was all mixed up, not alphabetical. Different machines are listing the names in different orders? That is not good. What else is different?

32. I did not get the same ballot
I did not vote for Mayor or City Council. It was not on that ballot. I can remember the woman saying something about that, but why not? I didn't pay much attention to it at the time.

I live in South Naples about 3 miles from Marco. Is that why those other candidates not on there? They thought I actually LIVED in Marco?

No, I am not crazy. It did not have any names for Mayor or City Council, and the presidential candidates were NOT in alphabetical order.

I was a different ballot.

if you live in that location. Palm Beach County's sample ballots includes items for the City of Hypoluxo, but I will never see it, because I live in Delray Beach.

And Clinton comes before Edwards and Obama. http://colliervotes.com/rwimages/Ballot/160227491.pdf (Sample Ballot for her/his county)

I'm not sure why the OP is saying they are NOT in alphabetical order.

28. They were not in alphabetical order
Biden's and Richardson's were right after one another in the middle. Hillary was definitely the first name listed.

Does this mean the machines are not all the same??????

23. what precinct did you vote in in florida?
i voted today. the names of all of the democratic presidential contenders were on the democratic ballots ... from joe biden's to chris dodd's to dennis kucinich's, to hillary's to obama's and hillary's name was no way on the top of the ballot ... i do recall joe biden's being the first name on that ballot ...

if you did not vote, or do not live in florida, and you are going by what someone else told you, then they either sold you a load of crock, or they had a skewed ballot and don't blame hillary for that, blame the election official of your county/precinct because if that is the case, who knows how that vote will be counted...it may end up as a vote for jeb for who knows what, or a vote for chris' tax break for homeowners or something your friend (or yourself) never intended to vote for.

the republicans, who view her as a weak threat to their hold on the presidency.
