Isn't Edwards' complaining about pointing fingers, finger pointing in itself?
I just watched him talking about how Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton should stop pointing fingers and focus on the needs of South Carolina. Isn't addressing this simply getting off message himself and attacking the other two?

2. No, it's calling attention to a problem and offering a solution...
He is trying to get SOMEONE to engage him in discussion of the issues!

3. that logic
So much of that "logic" going around.

But wait! Isn't complaining about Edwards complaining about pointing fingers, finger pointing in itself? And isn't complaining about people complaining about Edwards complaining about pointing fingers, finger pointing in itself, too?

4. I'm not a candidate, I can't finger point at whoever I want
it seems ridiculous to me to do something that I'm criticizing someone else for in the exact same sentence.

"It seems ridiculous to me to do something that I'm criticizing someone else for in the exact same sentence."

Right. You pointed the finger at Edwards for finger-pointing.

10. I'm pointing out an irony
I never said that you couldn't point fingers. You just shouldn't point them while telling people not to point. Mr. Edwards should take some of his own medicine.

14. It's fine for John Edwards to point fingers
It's fine for me to point fingers and it's fine for Two Americas to point fingers. I find it difficult to see someone taking the high ground about the pettiness of two candidates while engaging in the same pettiness.

I am, however, not claiming any high ground.

16. oh good
More of that circular finger pointing squad stuff. Just what we need. How are we ever going to get the Republicans out of office if all we do is point fingers at everyone? Won't you ever be happy with anything???

Edwards spent over a week behaving like a president - despite the Hillary/Obama petty squabbling.

Edwards definitely deserves alot of bragging rights on this one.

20. yep
Another thing this reminds me of - reporters ask candidates questions, and they respond. People then take their answers out of context and post them here as though the candidate initiated discussion on the subject, or held a press conference or issued an official statement.

26. You raise a good point,
but what I saw was definitely part of a speech. I'm not an Edwards hater, but this is the first thing he said that bothered me.

21. I would first off be happy with politicians being consistent
and not talk about other people doing things that they are, in fact, doing themselves. That's really what I want and the entire point of you and I wasting time with the last set of posts.

I do have a problem with finger pointing, but if John Edwards wants to do it then he should just do it. I just don't want him to do it in the context of how he doesn't want others to do it. I do expect public officials to be better than we are. I am not standing up asking people to vote for me so I can point out whatever ironies I want. I don't think there is an inconsistency in that.

5. Look at Monday's debate and you will see what he is talking about.
The other two candidates point fingers at each other and at Edwards, and Edwards responds by talking about the issues that mean something to him.
