Poll question: Who do you want as the VP candidate?
I am not going to include any of the 3 remaining Presidential candidates in this poll. And I do realize that certain possibilities will only correlate with one candidate. ie. have already offered an endorsement.

1. People I'm talking to think it will be Clark for Obama, and Lieberman for McCain
I've heard the Lieberman thing a bunch of times.

2. Seeing as I am an Obama guy first, then Edwards, I'd say
that I would love to see Napolitano or Sebelius, as they both have impressive achievements as Governor of Arizona and Kansas, respectively. I think it would help in the GE to have a woman on the ticket, provided that she is qualified and doesn't have a lengthy list of negatives.

5. Biden would be perfect for all three.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 02:42 AM by Heaven and Earth
He's got the experience thing like Clinton, he talks about working with Republicans like Obama, he can be an ass-kicker like Edwards, and he's got the national security/foreign relations experience to make the Republican ticket look like a bunch of tools

6. I like Biden...
But would he give up his position in the Senate to be veep for 8 years? I'm not so sure.

7. As important as VP is these days? In a heartbeat.
Another reason he'd be perfect is that after two runs, there is no way he'd be viable for a third, even as VP, so he'd be free to sell whoever's agenda without conflicting interests.

8. While Biden's experience would be an asset to the ticket
Two senators on a ticket isn't going to work. One is bad enough, given the last 40 years of history.

10. Biden's not just any senator. His longevity makes him an elder statesman.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 02:53 AM by Heaven and Earth
Like Kennedy, but with a different style. To my mind, that's almost as good as being an executive. Does anyone doubt Kennedy's governing ability? Biden's the same, senator or not.

Even better, while Biden can be feisty, he isn't going to outshine any of our rock stars. He's just solid competence.

28. I'm a huge Clark fan
but considering his rock solid support of Clinton, do you think a) Obama would want to ask Clark, b) Clark would want to do it, and c) the Clintons (who let's face it, Clark owes a lot of his success to) would approve?

15. Al Gore VP for Obama.
I can see it!

Two visionaries...the first has a vision of how to make our politics work for us and how hope can transform into action...the second has a futuristic vision of all that we can be.

Obama can help translate and move Gore's vision for the future to a huge movement across the world.

Obama is one of the most eloquent and moving leaders around.

Al Gore is the smartest guy I ever heard of.

Now THAT is a winning team.

21. Other.
Interesting poll. Thank you for posting it.

I voted "other." I like all three of the democratic candidates, and will be glad to support the nominee in the fall. Each of the three brings different strengths to the table. Hence, each of the three would do best to pick a different person for VP. I do not think that a serious case can be made for a "one VP fits all" approach.
