I actually have a cousin Ray-Ray, in SC no less. He's an engineering student and one of the smartest people I know. I called him up a little while ago for his opinion on the latest controversy.

His exact words: "This shit is bananas. Tell them they need to go outside."

I'm hardly an Obama fan (to put it mildly) but, like my cuz said, this shit is bananas. Folks down south have funny nicknames, regardless of race. It's just a fact of life. :shrug:

He'd be surprised to hear some consider it a racist nickname. He's a white French Canadian. He's been Ray-Ray as long as I can remember. I'll have to ask him how he feels. I think your Ray-Ray said it best when he stated people need to go outside more. hehe. By the way, my husband calls me pookie. I had no idea it was a southern thing. We are as Canadian as can be.
