Wait....... SC has only 9 - UNPLEDGED - delegates?
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 04:01 PM by wlucinda
Is this correct?
45 pledged delegates, 9 unpledged

http://politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/results/states/SC.html

CNN is showing 45 delegates tied to todays election and 9 super delegates.
Which makes more sense.

http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#SC
Open primary
54 total delegates*
45 tied to January 26 primary;
9 superdelegates

1. Presumably the nine are "super-delegate" who are mostly
party officials who come to the convention uncommitted.

3. I think the NYT may have labeled it wrong? CNN's appears to be correct.

4. I think both are correct.
The NYT site is saying that the 45 pledged delegates will be decided today, not that they are already pledged.

5. That seems correct
"CNN is showing 45 delegates tied to todays election and 9 super delegates. "

Pledged delegates will be elected in the state based on results of the primary. The nine will remain unpledged (the superdelegates.)

6. They only have 2 Democrats in congress.
R senators. R governor. That's where states get a lot of their super-delegates.
