The media follows Obama like they did Bush and that should scare a lot
of people here. They are reporting his every move: Oh, he's planning on campainging here and here and here.. Oh, he also stopped to take a shit... These are the things we have said are so wrong with Faux News... and their endless coverage of everytime Bush lands his fucking plane.. like its breaking news and it has relevance in our lives... If people cannot see what is happening in front of their own eyes, I seriously have to think about re-locating out of the United States.. We are not the free nation or even close to the best nation...

1. It's called being the frontrunner
A month ago people were complaining he wasn't being properly vetted.

6. No, its called the media doing its spin.. and they are told to follow
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 01:16 AM by glowing
Obama.. Like they were told to follow Bush... He is the most right of all the candidates left and he will be the most Reagan-esk... I certainly don't need anymore of that in my life..

On Edit: If you look at the polls Clinton is still in the lead, and we aren't checking in on everytime she farts, but the media certainly loves to follow her husband around trying to find a one liner that they can spin and make it look "racist" or "unfair" or whatever they please.. The media have done this to the Clintons since they arrived in Washington.. Whoever heard of politicians airing any Presidents "lady" friends on t.v. Its unheard of.

21. Obama's record is ten times better than Edwards
The idea that Edwards is more progressive is just pure bullshit pulled out of the ass insanity.

Edwards could actually BE President for 8 years and still not accumulate the record Obama already has.

5. I think part of it is this:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4242187

In short, he isn't courting the press, which makes them want him even more. The more he blows them off, the more fascinated they become. He's playing into some weird self-loathing complex the press has, and it's working. If this is on purpose, it's genius.

9. Well Edwards had his chance in 2004.....and the press corp was right there.....
during that heady times between his 2nd place in Iowa, 4 in New Hampshire, and 1st in South Carolina.

Now it is OBAMA time!

11. Get over it. There is NO comparison. For starters, Obama is smart, he's
steering clear of media as much as possible, they're naturally going to him because he's showing leadership qualities. What's not to like about that? We're all thirsty!

27. LOL. That and they know that they don't have to cover those pesky issues
All they need to do is publish fluff and feel good talk.

Unless he gets the nomination, that is- then they'd turn on him like a pack of feral dogs.

16. And suddenly we trust the media... Like you know they covered shock
and awe at the Baghdad airport.. or like when they covered the many, many marches and protests agains the war in Washington.. or like, you know, when they tell the American people we've killed a million Iraqi's and have orphaned 5 million of them and displaced 4 million into refuge camps.. Like that media.

17. The media has also been telling us Hillary is the frontrunner
and her nomination was inevitable for the past year. So does that mean its OK to vote for anyone but Hillary? How does this game work exactly?

I make my decisions based on who I think the best candidates is. I don't let media coverage decide who I'm supporting like you are.

I find it very sad that as soon as we get a progressive candidate who is skilled at doing what it takes to win a campaign (raising money and getting good media coverage) then some people will turn their back on that candidate simply because they're running a winning campaign. Don't you see how self destructive that is for the party?
Somehow I don't think you would mind if Edwards had managed to raise more money and got more media coverage.

18. No, the media has been telling us her campaign and inevitability
is coming since 2000 when her husband left office.. and they've been telling us about Obama's since 2004 when he spoke at the convention. That's how long the bugs have been in your ears..

23. I really don't know what all that number b.s. is about... If its supposed to mean
I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist... then whatever... I'm just pointing out that the things we have said for years about the news not covering the real issues and hiding the real Bush were disgusting in our eyes. Remember when the whole drunk driving thing came out.. it was a blurb and he was changed and he was saved, so forget about a minor blemish.. All I am saying is that the media is using propaganda.. and this time its for a Democrat like it or not.. I don't like it... I want real news, not this shit.

Come on. The fact that they backed Shrillary for the last year or so didn't draw any alarm bells? I know that they've been purposefully ignoring Edwards until now, and I DONT trust them but I see no real harm in this coverage. Just following the story this.

28. The Clinton Campaign Thought They Could Smack The Press Like Bush
The Clinton machine has nothing but contempt for the media - not like we have contempt, for not sticking to policy matters, but because they feel entitled to control every aspect of their message like in the good ole days of Karl Rove and Andrew Card.

If the Clintons don't like the media now, I can only imagine what it would be like when they start questions about their contributors and the Clinton library in the general election as we spend month after month after month with them trying to stonewall the release of information about Hillary's "35 years" of experience.
