5. You just like to use those words.
They don't really mean anything, but it gives you a little tickle.

8. "it gives you a little tickle"
Yup, right in that special spot where her marriage is somehow more equal than mine.

9. You should talk to Edwards about that, too.
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:11 AM by Harvey Korman
I'd say talk to Obama, as well, but he thinks marriage is "something sanctified" between a man and a woman. Also, he's busy courting votes from people who think we need to be "cured," so he probably wouldn't be very interested.

11. Elizabeth and Cate...
... bend JRE's ear on this pretty routinely and publicly.

I don't hear anything even remotely similar from the other two candidates' camps.

12. Hmm.
Barney Frank? Tammy Baldwin? Christine Quinn?

They're not Elizabeth Edwards (who is? I love that woman) but it's a start.

I can't think of anyone notable in Obama's camp who's a staunch advocate for GLBT rights.

13. Ann Lewis...
... has http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Lewis">carried so much water over the years, along with her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_Frank">brother. I feel sorry for both of them, to a certain extent.

Chairman Frank strolled in at the last minute the day that Lawrence v. Texas was argued, and came over to say hello to the judge whose guest I was. I've seen him in action, and he's sharp as a whip, and more effective than many.

But let's not pretend that the spouse and adult child of the candidate don't hold special sway that "senior advisors" - who always have the title between them and the principal - simply never can hope to hold.

14. I don't think Rep. Frank or his sister need your sympathy.
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:35 AM by Harvey Korman
Perhaps they're simply better acquainted with the players than you are. In fact I think they might feel a bit sorry for you since you quite obviously suffer from a kind of fixation.

And perhaps a candidate is more likely to listen to family than friends. But allies are allies, and a candidate surrounding him or herself with strong pro-gay voices is something we should encourage.

18. I Encourage Her Entourage...
... to keep pushing her toward their progressive principles on these issues, as she continues a fine work as a workhorse Senator - a role better suited for her than the one to which she aspires, IMO.
