Bill Clinton's running again- and it's all about him
By Dave Helling and Matt Stearns | McClatchy Newspapers
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Bill Clinton is running again. For what, exactly, isn't clear.

Watch: He's stalking the stage in South Carolina, as he did in New Hampshire and Iowa — a microphone in one hand, a wagging finger in the air, eyes wide open, the lip strategically bitten.

Applause rings out as he ticks off his greatest hits — a budget surplus, a growing stock market, more jobs, safer streets.

"Nobody's figured out how to deal with this," said Larry Sabato, the director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. "The voters don't know, the press doesn't know, and frankly the Clintons don't know, either."

In a presidential election year that's notable for shattered rules, the high visibility of the former president's efforts on behalf of his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, may the biggest rule-breaker of all.

He's given speeches criticizing media coverage of rival Sen. Barack Obama. In Nevada he suggested caucus rules were purposely tilted against his wife, arguing the issue with a reporter.

2. Bill accumulated a lot of good will / political capital as President. Now he's investing it.

He pushed too hard before SC, but he's still an asset to their campaign.

4. No, he's not running again
He is supporting his wife, whom he feels is the best candidate for the job. The incessant whining from the Obama camp, because they have no real way to match the former president's appeal and stature, is getting to be a bit tiring.

5. I don't know about the "whining" from the Obama camp
but many people outside of the Obama campaign find it highly unusual for a former prez to campaign against a fellow Dem.

6. this isn't from the "Obama Camp" and that should be obvious
It's a newspaper article- including the title. Don't like it? Write McClatchy.

8. You're getting to be too predictable
Obviously if you're posting this story in the DU, the you agree with it. If you are unable/unwilling to defend your opinion, fine, but don't hide behind some bogus "I didn't write it" cowardice.

10. What a scattered, confusing, pointless article. Is there something wrong with Bill Clinton
touting his record? Bill Clinton saved America's middle class from Reagan's policies. He is a hero, here in the US and abroad. What's wrong with Bill Clinton talking about what's right for America?
