A sports analogy to support Obama
In addition to being a political junkie I'm also a huge sports fan. What I see is that a coach can have all of the technical skills and amazing grasps of Xs and Os, but the best coaches get players to believe in themselves. The best coaches make their players the best they can be not by using the right drills and understanding of the playbook but by motivating them to give everything they have for the team. This is not a universal trait. A coach can have the most talented squad in the country but if he doesn't get them to play to their potential then how they run the pick and roll is irrelevant.

I believe that Obama has this kind of capacity for greatness. He is the coach and the electorate is his players. There may be others out there who have a better grasp of the playbook (policy positions) but Obama has that quality that makes me stand up and work harder for him than I would someone else. We shouldn't sell that quality short because he hasn't hit all of the right marks on the progressive checklist.

I've never worked on anyone's campaign that I haven't met personally. I'm involved in local politics, but haven't been on the national scene. The X factor here is Obama and if he can do this for me there are lots of others waiting in line.
