Do women judge Hillary Clinton unfairly?

I have had some recent unfortunate conversations with friends of mine who insist that they can't vote for Hillary because of things like:

"She's a bitch"...because she isn't "softer"
"She should wear dresses, not pantsuits....does she think she's a man? I can't vote for that." :0
"Have you seen her thighs. Seriously, gone to a gym lately Hillary?"
"Her hair makes her head look like a football."
"She's riding on the coattails of her husband...She would be nothing without him." (Seriously...from a WOMAN who obviously hasn't considered that Bill might not have been anything without Hillary's support.)
The best thing I have heard recently came from a close friend who confided "women just shouldn't be...president". This same friend also only sees male ob/gyns and pediatricians because it just feels right...women...shouldn't really be doctors, I guess.

I'm baffled by the anti-women rhetoric that I hear lately from people I know. We really can be our own worst enemies.

Come on ladies....it is TIME for us to break through the glass ceiling.

...tell her to stop espousing her useless political opinion and get in the kitchen and cook me a chicken pot pie. Seriously, what is UP with that? I've heard it too from a certain strand of Christian...But its like, if you're smart enough to tell me, a man, how it is - why are you telling me that women aren't smart enough to tell men how it is? I just can't follow the logic of it.

One of her staunchest opponents is a friend of mine who is an elementary school teacher. This woman doesn't have perfect thighs herself LOL but you should hear the things she says. :shrug: I finally had to tell this friend that we would need to not talk politics or I might flip out!

Judge her for her policies...but not her hairstyle or cellulite!

I mean that's what I LIKE about Hillary...When she gets down in these town-hall meetings...We're told she's supposed to be this bourgeoisie aristocratic duchess or something, then she opens her mouth and starts screaming about needing health care now, and her voice sounds like a cross between Roseanne Bar, Lucille Ball, and a Matriarch from a Miyazaki film...I like that about her because I can't see a female american president being any other way. Is princess Di supposed to defend us from terrorists? I wouldn't trust her too...But knowing Hillary has that little bit of Roseanne Barr in her, as comes through in her voice and a sometimes her look, is why she comes across as "tough enough" to me. I could never see this country electing Cindy Crawford to be our commander in cheif...

Its hard to describe her type, but if you live in poor towns in the US you know them...The kind of Christian who drinks alot, gets married at 19 and talks endlessly about the end times.

Yes it's a huge step forward to have an African-American male President, but the fact is he's still a male, just like every single President in the history of the US. I also think a lot of people are especially uncomfortable with the idea that a female President would also be Commander in Chief of the military.

But I'm supporting Obama.

My reasons for not supporting Clinton have everything to do with her character and her record, and nothing to do with her gender. I'd SO love to see a woman in the WH, but this particular woman doesn't excite me in the least. I distrust her, in fact.

(That said, my usual disclaimer about supporting the winner in the general, of course).

and my better half don't like Senator Clinton and will not vote for her. The two of them are split between Edwards and Obama. They both say they would love to have a strong, Democratic female president; just not her. :shrug:

a number of the biggest Clinton-haters here are women.

I don't just mean they oppose her - I mean they HATE her. Pure, blind, wall-chewing, cat-kicking hatred. I was surprised to discover that.

16. It's not only that, but the view of the "old guard" of feminists...

versus the "new guard".

Where the "old guard" is seen to be tough, overly masculine and cold, emotionally speaking.

And where the "new guard" is seen to be soft and to take the "struggles" of the old guard too lightly.

I think it just speaks to how complex gender issues still are within our country.

17. Yes. She's getting consistently roughed up by female columnists in the major papers.

Where as black male columnists - Bob Herbert, Eugene Robinson and Colbert King are strongly supporting Obama.
