Who will pledge with me to stay out of the DU mud?
This has become a very divided place, and it seems like no thread, however well intended, can go for long without someone contributing a snide, smearing comment. I don't think this is helping anybody. You win minds not by insulting people, but by appealing to their finer instincts.

I am an Obama supporter, but I think Edwards and Clinton have their finer points, too. And all three have negatives, like any human being does. Pretending otherwise is just lying to yourself.

Supporters of all three candidates have posted bogus, inflammatory attacks on this board as well. Fortunately the worst comments seem to come from only a few members, but it's hard not to get angry and respond negatively when someone posts something that is clearly flame-bait.

Who will put their name in this thread and pledge along with me to think twice before posting, and try to bring up the level of civility on this board at least to where it was before all this started? We can truly do better. I ask this not as a supporter of my candidate, but as a DEMOCRAT.

1. correct
most of it comes from very few people.

We shouldn't have to form a vigilante mob to handle it.

It should be against the rules to behave that way.

3. It is against the rules...
but it's too hard for the mods to enforce them. The'd have to boot half of their members

5. I'm referring to a handful of people
that have never once said a positive word about a Democrat - all they do is attack, attack, attack.

They should be banned. They've been alerted on thousands of times - and they're still here.

2. Count me in
I'm undecided as far as the primary (but have to make up my mind soon on that) but will eagerly vote for whomever gets the nod. The level of discourse around here of late is pretty sickening and if everyone would just stop and realize they are going to need eachother at the end of this (Obama is going to need Clinton supporters and visa versa), maybe sanity will reign.

7. I made this pledge to myself 18 days ago. So far, I feel much better than I did when I was
slinging the mud.

I haven't been perfect. Slipped up a few times, but overall, I am doing MUCH better at being civil.

It can be done.

8. I agree...
I will continue support Edwards, but will not bash other Dems. When it comes to the GE the only chance we have is to be united.
