Who will pledge with me to stay out of the DU mud?
This has become a very divided place, and it seems like no thread, however well intended, can go for long without someone contributing a snide, smearing comment. I don't think this is helping anybody. You win minds not by insulting people, but by appealing to their finer instincts.

I am an Obama supporter, but I think Edwards and Clinton have their finer points, too. And all three have negatives, like any human being does. Pretending otherwise is just lying to yourself.

Supporters of all three candidates have posted bogus, inflammatory attacks on this board as well. Fortunately the worst comments seem to come from only a few members, but it's hard not to get angry and respond negatively when someone posts something that is clearly flame-bait.

Who will put their name in this thread and pledge along with me to think twice before posting, and try to bring up the level of civility on this board at least to where it was before all this started? We can truly do better than the smearmongers of the other party. I ask this not as a supporter of my candidate, but as a DEMOCRAT.

3. Democrats are like feral alley cats.
By the noises they make, one might think there are killing each other when in fact they are just making more Democrats.

Just kidding....kinda, sorta.

Best approach is to take it all with many grains of salt.

about mud. Some of that stuff doesn't smell like mud. Smells like something else.

11. K & R'd. I tuned out most of these frays re the Democratic POTUS
candidates a long time ago.

That said, NONE of my $$$ is going toward any one POTUS candidate; rather, it's going toward getting as many Democrats elected to the House and Senate.

12. Agreed.
with the caveat that I will defend my candidate if obviously attacked, and particularly in posts that insist that he should drop out.

After the primaries are (finally!) over, we'll have to unite under one candidate, whoever that may be. I'd hate to see leftover bad blood.

15. Good idea!
Martin Luther King used to say that even if you didn't believe in nonviolence as a philosophy, it was a good tactic.

All of you who are supporters of one specific Dem candidate should know that when you flame another candidate those of us who are honestly undecided tend to draw back from the person you are supporting.

The reason I'm undecided is that there are very good things about our three remaining candidates, but each has flaws as well.

17. I won't throw mud, but I'll defend my candidate.
I'll defend my candidate when he's unfairly attacked.

And I'll point out obnoxious behavior when I see it.

In Primary 04 at DU, Skinner implemented a "4-warnings and you're tombstoned" system. I hope he reinstitutes it--maybe not banned from all of DU, but from GD:p.

want President Giuliani.
