Does anyone really think that ...
former presidents have not been in the background helping with other elections..Isn't the problem really that the media hates Bill and they hate to see him campaigning because they know he is good at it.. Do we really think that George w will not be helping in some way for the COns..

1. They're usually involved in the GE, not the primaries. But Bubba's got a dawg in the fight...
though he has said repeatedly what a great crop of candidates we have. And he's right.

3. There's a big difference between being in the background
and being out front, serving as your wife's hitman.

The media may well hate the media but the Clinton's hate the media right back.

It's occured to me as I watch prominent senator after prominent senator endorse Obama that they know the Clintons' best and who are they endorsing? Obama. That tells you right there something ain't right in the way they treat others and the way they operate. You can only control with scare tactics and dirty politics for so long before it bites back. It's biting in a bad way right now for them, and it seems to be totally deserved.

6. The only thing that really tells you...
Is that people are stupid. The reasons given for these endorsements have been stupid. The only REAL reason anyone should endorse anyone else is that they agree with the candidate on the issue.

11. It's an unfair comparrison. There's never been a candidate
whose husband was a former President! This is new ground that we've never seen before.

To be fair, Michelle has been Barack's hitman too! Remember the "If you can't control your own house, how can you control the Country?" comment?

I don't fault either one. If I were a candidate I would expect my husband to be fighting for me too!

4. I think you're right on BC, but I don't know what kind of help Shrub
could be to any Pub candidate! I think it's going to be more like Rover in the background, and the ever popular swiftboat groups!

5. Bill hasn't been in the background recently.
He has been right out front.

7. Sure past Presidents have been in the background, they have not been
Up on stage giving speeches, instead of the candidate - they have not been wagging their fingers at the press and making snarky comments that get more play than the candidate's - they have not been so intertwined w/the campaign that nobody knows who is in charge or who is actually running for POTUS anymore. The've been advisors and cheerleaders and helpers.

16. I haven't seen Elizabeth Edwards or Michelle Obama wagging their fingers at TV reporters
and 'shaming' them for their choice of questions. Nor have I seen them act as the 'attack dog' for their husband's campaigns. I have seen them act as advisors, helpers and cheerleaders - not as co-candidates.

He should remember that he is a former president and act as a statesman. He should help retain some respect for the office and the title.

9. This is kind of new territory.
We have never had a situation where the spouse of a former President has been a candidate. The closest is father/son. I do believe that Pappa Bush was VERY involved in shrub's campaign and his brother helped to "win" Fla.

10. Let's just cut the crap and announce the elephant in the room
If Hillary Clinton becomes president-Bill is president again too. He's in the White House with her. Who with a brain cell doesn't think he will be co-president? If you like Bill, fine. But I don't think the the founders envisioned this-eight years in the White House-then the spouse gets you another eight years. That's why it's not the same. Bill Clinton actually will be in the White House again.

Imagine how we would squawk if the Republicans tried this. Eight years of McCain or Romney or Hucakabee-then the wife. (lord knows the wives would be better than them but only by a hair)

I don't think it's exactly the fairest America.

12. Actually, the FOUNDERS didn't place any term limits on Presidents!
THAT amendment was only added to the Constitution after Roosevelt served THREE TERMS! I happen to agree it was a good idea, but it wasn't the founders.

17. The media definetly hates Bill Clinton
They are the ones who took him down . Also it is a given that there are interests of many natures who are working behind the scenes to drive the media rant in their favor . For certain , without doubt Rove is in the game .

Good lord would people pull the blinders off already. We don't need that crap in this party. And to your point about presidents being in the background, well then I guess he'll be helping Obama. And if Bill won't help Obama, then fuck him all over again.
