Obama Raises More Than $4 million Online Over the Weekend

Senator Barack Obama's campaign has raised more than $4 million online over the past couple of days, said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe in a campaign memo released on Monday.

"Our strong donor base provides us sustainability, allowing us to be financially competitive -- if not superior -- heading into the rest of February and March," he wrote in the memo. "In the last two and a half days, we have raised over $4 million online alone."

Obama won the Democratic South Carolina primary by a wide margin on Saturday.

The not-to-be-sniffed-at $4 million number doesn't break any records.

To put it in perspective, libertarian Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's supporters raised $6 million in a day after months of planning last December. And Massachusetts senator John Kerry raised $5.7 million in a day after he won the Democrats' nomination for president in the last election cycle.
