I don't agree with these arguments but they work to counter all our arguments against the "hawks".



We MUST have a candidate who can fight on this issue with credibility.


Also if it is McCain he has strong support outside the Repug party. Indies will vote for him over Hillary without a second thought.

Again, we MUST have a candidate who can draw support from independents and not just the Democratic party base.

The GOP has been salivating for a McCain - Clinton battle. They have the machines ready and rigged for him, they have the amnuntion ready and loaded to attack Hillary, they've already started the disenfranchisement of thousands of new citizens (ran out of time to get them processed- what a surprise) and, unless we can create a landslide - and I mean LANDSLIDE with triple the turnout then we saw in 2006 - which I doubt we can pull off with Clinton and may be possible with Obama or Edwards but even those are a longshot-- get ready for President McCain and -- maybe VP Crist or- who knows- maybe even Jeb Bush (anything is possible with these criminals).

There is no way they will give up the thrown without a huge fight and no way they haven't been planning this battle for years.

If we have learned one thing from Rove, it is attack their strengths. I don't mean swiftboating and lies, because that is not necessary and that's not what we do.

However, most people don't realize how completely off-the-wall McCain is on these national security issues: He wants to stay in Iraq another 100 years. And it sounds like he wants to start another half-dozen other wars while were at it.

He's basically running on a more extreme version of Bush's Iraq policy and national security policy, which is fine with the 30 percent club, but which won't fly with the general population if they know the details. If McCain doesn't have national security to run on, I'm not sure what else he has...

37. To beat McCain, I think Democrats need to HAMMER these two points home

1) McCain is for continuing the Iraq war for f-ing ever....Remember his quote (paraphrasing) "we could stay in Iraq for 100 years"....Democrats need to play his exact quote over & over & over again...

2) Also, there will likely be 2-3 SCOTUS appointments in the next presidential term.....Democrats need to drive the point home that if a Democrat is POTUS (whether it's Clinton or Obama) you will get Ginsburg or Stevens type appointments....If John fucking McCain gets to make those appointments, you'll get Supreme Court justices in the mold of Scalia & Thomas....And that's a fact....
