Well let me amend that a bit, it WILL matter slightly in the fact that the media will talk about it some tomorrow and the Clinton supporters will continually bring it up in the following week, but let's actually look at what happened.
Senator Clinton won tonight's straw poll by a large margin. The polls have indicated that for weeks. Now let's assume you're a young registered Democrat in Florida that has light support for Obama and aren't necessarily that involved politically. Hasn't Obama been winning that demographic *overwhelmingly* in every other state so far?
Now then, do you really expect those people I just described to be that motivated to get out and vote for Obama? They would figure that their vote wouldn't make any difference since no delegates are to be seated, so why bother voting?
The group I just mentioned is just one that throws off EVERYTHING we saw tonight. With the very unique circumstances in Florida, it makes all the numbers IRRELEVANT. Did you notice that the Republicans had a higher turnout for a change than the Democrats in Florida? Did you notice that something like SIXTY-TWO percent of Democratic voters were over the age of 50? Do you really think all of these would have held up if this had been an actual primary instead of a straw vote?
And with that, I'm going to sleep. I'm interested in what you have to say no matter what candidate you support.
