I live in SW Florida, Naples-Fort Myers area. Random thoughts:

There was really never a question that HRC would win on the Dem Side. There really wasn't a campaign down here because of the early primary controversy and name recognition won the day. You can expect that phenomenon on Super Tuesday btw, just my opinion.

As for Florida in general, in my opinion, if we don't create a rotating system, swing states should be more important than Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. The states that decide the general election should take a more prominent role in who gets to be the general election nominee. It's a no brainer really. They just need to turn the system over and shake it up a bit.

The area I live in is lilly white with a small amount of hispanic and some black voters.

I have to say, whoever ran/volunteered/coordinated the Obama campaign in Naples did pretty well. Can't tell you how many people with Obama signs I saw today and the week leading up. Just standing out at major intersections. All middle age, wearing nice clothing, and white.

Edwards would of done really well down here if there had been advertising or a campaign.

Considering how many people I saw with Ron Paul crap on their cars, I'm surprised he only got 3%

I would love to see Giuliani's expense sheets, because if he spent all his money in Florida, I missed it. Must of focused on Boca I guess, lol.

My mother and I voted for Edwards. My sister, my father in law, and my brother in law voted for Clinton. My girlfriend chose to "write-in" Bill Clinton.

1. The primary system resembles the BCS in sheer stupidity...
...neither is really designed to pick a winner!

5. Huh?
#1, You'd vote for Obama, but you didn't vote today....ok....then you have no right to talk at all.
#2. This is the democratic underground. If you want to talk about voting for McCain, you need to go to freeperville.

9. Since we're going to be running against McCain
I can guarantee you McCain gets the Republican nomination, based on my conversations with Republicans who have no one else to vote for, his post sucks even more. lol

4. Yes, with signs, on a couple major intersections in the area
From a street perspective, this area is actually fairly well designed, all of the roads are 4 lane 45-55 highways, at least 60% of roads here are like that. So you can put 20 people on 4 different intersections for 8 hrs and guarantee about 200,000 cars drive by them in a day.

but I bet it will be passed off as just Obama voters...

I just looked, and in Collier County, Hillary 55%, -- Obama 27%.

So obviously, it didn't matter that people were out there campaigning.

8. I don't agree. Hillary could bank on most of the Jewish vote and basically carried most of the Dem
latino vote, important to the GE. I totally agree with your assessment that the monopoly of IA and NH needs to end. This was one of the reasons factored into date chance of the Primary, as I'm sure you know.

11. Well, from a statewide perspective, you place too much importance on the Jewish vote
Multiply how you look at the hispanic vote by 3. It's a huge voting bloc in the state, probably outnumbers the jewish vote at least 10 to 1.

Then factor in the name recognition.
