Have we already lost sight of the fact that a major component of our victory a couple years ago was the rise of Strong Defense Democrats? It took us a long time to challenge Republicans on their own turf. We've long had more veterans and individuals who've served with distinction on our team, but 2006 was the first time we got the point across. Hillary is one of these Strong on National Security Democrats. It's an invaluable asset. We can't really afford, especially if we end up facing McCain of all people, a nominee who appears weak on defense.

But let's not mistake that with warmongering. I believe Hillary would answer with extreme force if America is attacked again - but I don't believe, even for a moment, that she would engage in Bush Doctrinesque pre-emptive attacking of nations that just happen to lie along the Afghanistan/Iraq/Iran pipeline.
