Poll question: Who will be easier for us to beat?

1. I'm gonna have to say all of the above. Unless I see something new from McCain.

As it is right now, his support is weak, and he seems to have no fire.

2. He could be tired in the fall, especially if Mittens spends

all of his money on this. McCain doesn't have the deep pockets, so he has to stump more.

That could change if he is viewed as the unstoppable nominee after Super Tuesday. In which case he gets to rest up and save up.

If he is tired, or even just looks old and tired, a contrasting Dem nominee like a young energetic Obama would mop the floor with him.

But a *lot* of pundits and Republicans have egg on their faces right now... remember all the stories back last summer about how he was polling single digits, out of money and about to throw in the towel? Let's not underestimate Senator and war hero, John McCain.

3. Yep. I remember hearing how it was all over for McCain. His biggest problem

right now though, appears to be that his party seems to be having an identiy crisis, and all the screaming rightwing media people reallllly don't like him. That seems to be carrying over a bit, since Romney is keeping up with him and Huckabee isn't far back in the wings.

And that's before he has to go head to head with our nominee. I do know that elections can turn on a dime, but so far, I'm not seeing a lot to be extra worried about.

4. All it takes is one "Dean Scream" or one "stuck in Iraq" joke

and, unfortunately, the MSM is always looking at OUR candidates for these slip ups..

(to be fair, Repukes sometimes step on themselves as well, "a Macaca moment"... but when THEY do it, they are being themselves at an unguarded moment, when Dems do it, it's misunderstood or unintentional).

However, a rested and well funded McCain, no matter what the Rush's of the world think of him, is going to be a difficult challenge. Let's hope Mittens takes him to the mat in a long, bitter, drawn out campaign with lots of blood spilled.

5. With Romney we know what we're up against

McCain's war hero status and perceived foreign policy experience (even though he really doesn't have much) is a potential worry. On the other hand he could just end up being the next Bob Dole and be even easier to beat than Romney.

I've said the same about Huckleberry as well. He's more dangerous than Romney is he can indeed appeal beyond the Jesus rode a dinosaur crowd. If not, he'll be crushed.

To use a poker analogy, Mitt is the guy I would want to go heads up against. I exactly what his cards are and how they will play.

If I'm heads up against McCain I have to worry about the war hero card.

6. Romney would only win Utah

and even there it would be close.

but i would have a hard time watching and listening to him throughout the election season.

7. I think McCain, if we're smart.......

I think Romney has more of an all-around program, with his appeal based on his economic know how, which carries a lot of weight with Repubs and many independents. McCain can be beat more easily if the Dem candidate doesn't let him zero in on national security issues, which is perceived as his strong point. If he's attacked on economic and domestic programs, and his dogged support of Bush, the individual, we'll roll over him easily.
