"This country is not a business, it's a trust"
That's the single best line from any candidate, in either party, during this whole campaign.

2. What you say and what you do, is the question. Hillary is the mouthpiece for India and outsourcing.

7. I had the same argument with family over Xmas when
one of them stated that we needed someone to run the country like a business. I stated that's what we have now. Bush has an MBA...from Harvard. Besides the job of a CEO in business is to deliver profits to the shareholders. Government doesn't deliver profits. It's supposed to protect it's citizens and do what needs to be done to give them access and the means to acquire a quality of life. I was disappointed that she said it was more than business. Government is not a business and she should have been firm about that.

8. yes, but Bush never would have gotten that MBA without
affirmative action for rich, drunk nimrods.

10. Well, I have worked alongside some MBAs with similar
credentials. An MBA isn't all it's cracked up to be and it doesn't guarantee a profitable result. It's especially irrelevent in government where the political knowledge and skill set needed is very different.

11. I wish I had a nickel for every time I've heard the phrase
"the government should be run like a business". I worked in local government for over 30 years. every time there was an election some bidnessman campaigned on that phrase and sometimes successfully. But after they got elected - not so much. Turned out that they really didn't want it run like a business they wanted it run in a fashion favorable to their friends and associates. Running it like a business would have meant charging fair fees for government services, fees which required business and industrial customers to pay at the same rate as residential customers, or providing the same levels of service to citizens in "downscale" neighborhoods as they tried to do for the wealthy enclaves, or trashing us when we attempted to institute fair service and fee policies.

Unfortunately, running government like a business is simply code for running the government for the benefit of me and my buddies.
