A huge majority of Democratic senators voted for leverage in the IWR and Al Gore won the election.

Don't blame Democrats for EVIL REPUKE FUCKUPS AND ABUSES

2. Gore should have won his home state
Gore should have won that election by a landslide.

Prehaps you can tell us why HE chose to run away from the Clinton record?

Did he think it wouldn't sell?

17. would a victory in his home state
not have turned the election?

Should we not expect that our candidate would not at least manage to that?

I'm just tired of us running campaigns that don't anticipate what the wingnuts are willing to do... Neither Al or Kerry were prepared for it.

6. The Dems who voted for the IWR made the mistake of trusting Bush
You do not trust a neo-fascist, ever. EVER. You frustrate his schemes every step of the way. If you are an American legislator, that is your duty to your nation.

10. Hill voting for the IWR resolution was based entirely...
on her will to do it. Gore not winning TN was based entirely on the will of other people.

Apples/oranges.. you really are grasping here.

14. Say what???

The vote for the IWR is completely within each senator's individual control.

Wining an election is not.

I could possibly forgive Hillary (as I almost have forgiven Edwards, the IWR co-sponsor) for her vote IF she would admit that it was a huge error.

And what was this "megalomania contest between Saddam and OBL" reason? KO doesn't understand it and neither do I.

18. What we're looking for is "I apologize for VOTING for the IWR" , not "I apologize FOR the IWR".
HRC was not responsible for the resolution's existence. HRC was responsible for voting for it when, if the public and the antiwar movement already knew the truth, it goes without saying that she did too.

And the analogy of Gore losing his home state doesn't hold. What Gore could have and SHOULD have apologized for(and still could)was his refusal and his insistence that the Senate Democrats JOIN in his refusal to support the Congressional Black Caucus challenge to Florida's electoral votes. I assume you'll agree with me that Gore was wrong to accept the DLC arguement that avoiding looking TOO concerned about the disenfranchisement of black voters was more important than standing up against an illegitimate electoral process.
