Obama at the top of the Democratic ticket will have a coattail effect, leading to a working majority in the Senate and a substantial majority in the House.
4. Coattails means that he benefits the votes downstream.
Obama at the top helps us in the Senate. It helps us in the House. He helps us in the state legislature and down to city and country positions.
Obama is someone that can appeal to middle of the roaders and right leaners that have become fed up. More Dem support at the top trickles down to the state and local levels.
10. I agree, and I think it's pretty important to turning the country around.
There are substantive issues that I prefer Obama on - open government being one big one - but the two are close enough on policy that if I thought the coattail effect were reversed (i.e. if Hillary had them and Obama didn't) it might make me change my mind about who to support. Of course there are other factors to consider but this is a big one.
