Poll question: "Hillary Clinton solves all of McCain's Problems"
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:27 AM by calteacherguy
They are saying this on Countdown right now. They are saying that if it's Hillary, then that makes McCain's job of keeping all the different elements of the Republican Party under one tent much easier. They are also saying it will be easier for him to win over independents if it's her.

Agree or disagree?

1. The Repugs are counting on lots of Republicans and some voters who...
prefer the status quo (white men).

2. As much as I liked her tonight, it's true. She's the candidate McCain
can beat.

3. Rush doesn't say so
and neither does Mann Coulter. She even thinks let her win now so they can beat her later

18. Rush is selling McCain to independents.
He's helping him out by furthering the Maverick image.

4. She solves some problems. She does not solve one problem:
He's toast.

6. I do think Clinton vs. McCain would be a closer race than Obama vs. McCain.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:30 AM by calteacherguy
I'm not of the opinion she wouldn't have a chance to win, but I think Obama is the one who brings the potential of mandate for change.

7. Stop the scare tactics, please.
After tonight, I think they would both beat him.

9. No scare tactics here.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:31 AM by calteacherguy
However, I do think Obama would have a better chance and by a wider margin. I'm not saying Clinton doesn't have a chance, but I think it would be a tighter and tougher sell.

8. Make no mistake - NOBODY can galvanize the right, indies and some Dems than.....
a hatred of Hillary Clinton.

Do you REALLY want to test that?

16. And McCain is about as popular as ants at a picnic with many conservative Repugs
McCain's nomination just might help Hillary even more than hers might help him.

15. This has the smell of white male conventional wisdom
Not the smell of reality. McCain is a REPUBLICAN. The exact same monster that has been occupying the WH for too fucking long.

Independents are polling more and more Democratic. I can't see them breaking for McCain. He's Bush's man.

17. When Bill Bennett and Pat Buchanan are pushing Hillary ...
Isn't it obvious Republicans want to run against Hillary? They know their constituencies. They know the independents that trend in their direction. They know they will lose indies and borderline Pubs to Obama, but not Hillary Clinton.
