It is interesting to read the F.R. comments about Ann Coulter's endorsement of Hillary
Even though Coulter has stated emphatically that Hillary Clinton is more conservative than John McCain, and goes through several issues to back that claim up, I won't be surprised if she changes her tune once he is nominated. All the Repubs rallied around GW Bush after 4 bad years, so why wouldn't they rally around McCain? Regardless, I read many Free Republic threads about the Ann Coulter endorsement, and the results are pretty amazing. I would say 20% agree with Ann and will vote for Hillary, 20% say they will vote for McCain, and 60% say they will write in or not vote. They really hate that guy. A lot. I am surprised 7 years of bending over for Bush hasn't won him any support over there.

I know many on D.U. don't like some of our canididates, but it is NOTHING compared to the F.R. hate of McCain.

1. I don't know...
...the hate directed toward certain Democratic candidates can be pretty bad here, too.

30. the relevant quote from Ann & LINK
The bright side of the Florida debacle is that I no longer fear Hillary Clinton. (I mean in terms of her becoming president -- on a personal level, she's still a little creepy.) I'd rather deal with President Hillary than with President McCain. With Hillary, we'll get the same ruinous liberal policies with none of the responsibility.

Also, McCain lies a lot, which is really more a specialty of the Democrats.

Recently, McCain responded to Mitt Romney's statement that he understood the economy based on his many years in the private sector by claiming Romney had said a military career is not a "real job."

2. I spoke with a friend of mine
who is a conservative (we keep things lively but respectful) and she HATES McCain. Th reasons are: immigration, voting against tax cuts, McCain/Feingold. Would she vote for Hillary instead? Don't know but will email and ask her (I know she thinks Anne is a flamethrower but likes her anyway). McCain's 86% rating from the ACU means nothing to them (I think Hillary is 12%).

I don't know a lot about it.

27. I think for them it's a first
amendment issue. Frankly, I think they just hate McCain for whatever batshit crazy reason they can think of at the moment - It's because Rush doesn't like him and they're really nothing more than lemmings.

8. My father is a lifelong Republican and he'll vote for Clinton over McCain
But not Obama, because of the "unknown" factor. He would also have voted for Edwards. My quite liberal Mom (a pediatric nurse) loves HRC because of her support of health care workers and children and women's causes, and will vote for her over anyone.

25. re McCain/Feingold
On 3 seperate occasions I have had a hardcore republican say the same thing - that they oppose McCain and cite McCain/Feingold as one of the reasons. In all three cases, when I asked them specifically what McCain/Feingold was, they couldn't say for sure. It was just that Rush had told them it was very bad. One even offered that it didn't matter what it was, it was the fact that McCain had teamed up with a Democrat. The good thing about McCain winning the nomination (if he does) is that it may finally show the GOP that hard right campaigns like Bush, Romney, etc not only can't win the general election, now can't even get the nomination.

7. Not hate, but disagreement....
As an Edwards supporter, I did feel there was a wide area of disagreement on what has priorities for government to operate for the people. But I never felt 'hate' for the other candidates. I'll be voting for the nominee of the Dem party come November, and in between, I'll give support whenever. Anybody here who lets this opportunity go by to get at least health care, exit from Iraq and other important items which are a common theme, will really be sorry when one of Bush's lackeys gets in.

suggesting otherwise smacks of transphobia and is ignorant and offensive.

Another wonderful anti-GLBT day at DU. :eyes:

16. oh please ... it's an anti-Coulter statement ...
she's denying it, not embracing it ... I'd been using that term for quite some time, and nobody was complaining about it before.

Unfortunately, it does denigrate the trans-gender community ... but guess what? I get lumped in with rapists and child molesters because a man does it ...

20. The GLBT posters on DU rightfully complain about all of the "Mann Coulter"
crap all the time. I'm sorry you've missed them in the past. Nobody is lumping you in with anything, just asking that you have some respect for the GLBT people around here and not lump US in with Ann Demon Spawn Coultergeist.

Thank you for understanding.

What if Ann Coulter was transexual? What would that have to do with her political opinions? You are insulting many fine people, not just Coulter.

17. What I never thought would never happen seems about to happen
and they're gonna nominate McCain.

I think what's going on is the 70% has had it with the 30% which amazes me because I thought the dislike of McCain was plenty enough to make sure he never got the nomination.

Handicapping a presidential election is much more difficult than any dog race or horse race I ever tried to handicap.
