Chuck Todd on Olberman says a Hillary candidacy is a gift to McCain
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:26 AM by BayouBengal07
He said "all McCain's problems are solved" with a Clinton nomination because he could keep the Big Tent Independents and Religious Right elements of the GOP together while the rally to vote against her.

Yes? No?

34. Sadly, I do too.
Independents will not vote for Hillary regardless of who she chooses for her running mate.

2. The Republicans will also demonize Obama if he's the nominee.
With Hillary Clinton, at least people feel they know her.

7. The Clinton narrative is already out there, good or bad
Obama will have an opportunity to shape his storyline if he doesn't take his eye off the ultimate goal.  He won't be able to miss many chances to create his own story or the right wing echo machine will drive him into the ground.  The MSM isn't going to tee it up for him like they did on the Muslim email during a debate.  He will have to be on the attack and counter punch every time they take a swipe at him.

3. A big YES
The GOP never had it so good as when Bill was President.

They built up the GOP machine off the hate of the Clintons they fostered in the 90's, and they believe having Hillary be the nominee in November would be a gift from God.

They wouldnt even mind Hillary winning (though they would prefer winning), as that gains them even more time to rebuild the machine they created when Bill was President.

Obama throws those plans into the trash, as they would be hard pressed to turn on their hate machine without rousing up racial issues, not to mention the public by in large likes Obama as a person.

10. without rousing racial issues?
thats how they even have power since Nixon! OF COURSE they will bring up racial issues. Listen to Limbaughs "Barack the Magic Negro". It wouldn't be so bad if he had a normal name, but his name is Barack Hussein Obama. They will bring up Rezko, and all the skeletons the PC media has let stay in his closet for now.

6. Yeah, and you're going to listen to Chuck Todd because he's a Republican.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 12:39 AM by MADem
That's called Bait N Switch.

They want Obama up against McCain because they think he's easiest to beat.

They are unsure that McCain could go after Clinton with claws out. He's mean, but in his older age, he is more gentlemanly than he was in his craven youth.

If Chuck Todd says look down, you'd better be looking up.

From what I remember, he's stated that he's managed campaigns for Democrats and even a Green Party candidate.

He came off like he was slightly to the right of Attilla the Hun.

Perhaps Nahn Wun Wun changed EVER-THANG for him, too...

19. He is a republican.
He used to the the republican viewpoint to counter the Democratic viewpoint up until about a year ago. He even discussed that both of his parents are republicans and, I want to say, I believe someone close to him has some position in the republic party.

he did not. And his opinion about this is widely shared. It's hardly a secret that the right hate the Clintons with a pathological and burning hatred or that Independents don't care for them either.

31. you completely miss the point. The right will be motivated to vote against
her in a way that's completely in a category of its own. socons hate McCain, but they hate her even more, and that will motivate them to get out and vote. If Obama is the nom, there's a much, much greater chance that they'll sit out the election. This is the conventional wisdom by virtually every political analyst out there.

13. I've had the distinct impression that the media
yes the media, has ensured that the Dems present the weakest possible candidate...

And yes, the media is playing king maker.

So whoever this person is... might be right.

As is, the most qualified or progressive were weeded out.

29. They pushed her until they realized "HORRORS!!!!" that people were getting USED to the idea of a
woman in office. They thought SHE was the weakest link. They didn't count on the "It would be nice for my daughter to see a woman President" theme coming from ...... MEN. Fathers and Grandfathers, who want to see their little princesses have a role model TOO.

Now, they are pushing Obama, because they are hoping that "Voting Booth Racism" will hold.

They perceive him as weaker than Clinton, and they believe that John "War Without End, AMEN" McCain is the man to keep GE/GOP/MSNBC well up there on the list of Top Ten Pentagon Contractors.

Follow the Money. Every time you see one of those PLAINLY GOP 'commentators' doing a fulsome praise-job on Obama, you ask yourself "Cui Bono?" Pay attention to the sly smile on their faces, too.

No matter who wins, I hope either candidate brings it and shoves it in their faces. But they ARE hoping for racism/sexism to rear its ugly head, and if it doesn't, don't be surprised if THEY help it along.

Obama would be McCain's dream opponent.

Hillary not so much. If McCain were to try his bully stuff on her Bill would be on that freak like white on rice. And when Bill talks people are listening. That is what terrifies the Repigs.

25. I don't know
My county is overall registered democrat but only because there is rarely a R on the local ballot. It is full of your typical phobes and fundamentalist Christians. That being said one of the heads of the local R party has stated she will be voting for Obama in the primary bc they feel he can beaten. Which I hate to say is probably true in our area, heck even state.

Now that Edwards is out I'm leaning for Obama but who knows by next Tuesday where I will be.
