Midwestern state governor. Smart, articulate woman. No Hillary baggage. BUT I really don't know that much about her...

I may be jumping the gun here, but when I saw her on the news I couldn't help wondering about the possibility of him choosing her. It was a nice thought...

3. You are right. I was confusing her with Kathleen Sebelius who is a governor.
My bad...

2. Yes
between the two of them they have one term in the senate.

The VP will almost certainly not be a senator.

12. Jim Webb's name gets floated a lot...
and he has strengths that balance areas Obama may be perceived as weak in (not to mention that his time in the Reagan administration counters talk of inexperience). So...I wouldn't say 'almost certainly not', yet.

17. LOL
It won't be Jim Webb either.

The only people "floating" these names are people here on DU.

22. Never heard him say it
but I guess it's possible.

NOnetheless, two first-term senators will not be the team. I doubt it will be two senators at all.

Wes Clark would be an obvious choice for either candidate.

And I agreee that Clark is an obvious choice, for largely the same reasons Webb is mentioned (military credentials, Southerner, etc).

24. thanks
I missed that yesterday.

I was thinking Kaine himself would be an obvious choice, but Obama/Kaine sounds like a painkiller.

4. It's possible. Claire's formidable.
There are a lot of people who would likely be pleased to serve as vice president in 08 on our side. It may be a tougher sell over on the Red Team.

Like em or not, and most will do over any Republican, there's Claire McCaskell. General Clark. Governor Richardson. Senator Bayh. Tom Daschle. Gov. Napolitano. Bill Bradley. Max Cleland. Russ Feingold. Tom Harkin. Alexis Herman.

I could live with a Democratic White House and would love to see Bill Bradley or Alexis Herman get the veep nom.

9. Obama & Feingold.....
That ticket would upset the freepers so bad! They wouldn't know WHO to attack first! Race or religion? One who uses the Koran, the other doesn't believe Jesus died and rose again....

Personally, I would LOVE to see Feingold in the Obama cabinet if not VP. he is a great guy and very principled.

11. Your praise for Sen. Feingold is strong, and I think you've got it just right.
He's earned strong praise.

It wouldn't upset me one iota to see him play as huge a role as possible in the future of my party.

Barack has enough negatives to deal with without piling on more baggage.

15. Claire McCaskill is my Senator and I voted for her......
but, she's got some 'splainin' to do about her FISA/Telecom Immunity votes!

Claire has been very disappointing to me at times - I consider her the Mary Landreiu of Missouri.

20. Landrieu = not good. Not good at all.
I put Mary in about the same category as Joe Lieberman. And of course, that's about as bad as you can get without having an official (R) after your name. :(

by adding Landrieu instead...

C'mon folks.

She has the advantage of the governor creds.

16. I have a lot of respect for Gov. Sebelius.
Barbara Boxer is a wonder.

I'm less inspired by Sen. Bill Nelson but it wouldn't surprise me if he were on a short list for veep noms. Florida matters, and he will be the co-leader of the defiant "Florida delegation" in Denver.

18. I believe Ms. McCaskell supports telecom immunity.
This can be checked out. If true, she would be a disaster on the ticket.

Maybe Barack will choose Rahm Emanuel, good friend of his campaign manager Axelrod. That would set heads spinning.
