BREAKING: Obama Takes the Lead in Connecticut!

by Skulnick
Fri Feb 01, 2008 at 09:23:44 AM PST
A new poll from Survey USA just released today shows Barack Obama with a four-point lead over Senator Clinton in the Nutmeg State!

Obama 48%
Clinton 44%
Other 4%
Undecided 5%
Skulnick's diary :: ::
From someone on the ground in Connecticut, I can say this is not surprising. Last night in Hartford at an organizational meeting we crammed over 100 volunteers into a small storefront.

He has some serious momentum folks, we're ready to hand her a loss in her own backyard!

27. Pathetic. CT is a solidly blue state and
it borders NY for many a mile. It's her backyard and he's doing very well there. The whole Lieberman canard you're screeching about is dumb. Chris Dodd is from CT too, remember?

5. As long as the race is this close
It simply doesn't matter. There are only 65 delegates at stake, each candidate will around 30-32 delegates each.

40. True re: proportional delegate allocation ...
... but the bigger issue will be each campaign's spin preparation and how the media spins the results. The media spin then affects donations and later voting.

Every candidate wants to win in every state possible, even if they get the same number of delegates, because of the resulting attention and momentum. How many news programs cover the delegate race, versus how many talk about winning and losing?

17. I agree...
Bill may have had his "Macaca" moment in South Carolina.

Seriously, all he had to do was go around giving bland speeches reminding people about how great the 90's were and how great his wife is. Hillary was doing fine without him.

45. I was an Edwards supporter ... but Bill's attacks on Obama ...
... especially Bill's distortion of Obama's position on the Iraq war resolution... pushed me towards anti-Bill. And only a few days earlier I had empathy for Hillary after the media went into their post-Iowa feeding frenzy. The Clinton camp's Florida delegates ploy has tipped me a bit further.

I'll support whoever is our nominee, but I'll feel dirty if it has to be a vote that puts Carville-style politics back in the White House.

But...on Josh Marshall's TPM..there are polls showing that he has closed from 33% on Labor Day to a mere 8 points. ALL by Congressional Distict, too. Pro-por-tion-al,folks.

It's a "Hot LZ" suddenly in New Jersey as Gov Corzine (Secy of Treasurey in HRC Admin) and the power elite take on Newark and Jersey City grandmothers and college kids from Camden.

28. I am not saying that the race isn't tightening up or that Obama doesn't have momentum
I simply went to the Survey USA site and noticed that there were two other polls released today in states that are in the same area and thought that it might be instructive to include all three. I wasn't making any statement regarding Obama's momentum, just that we should look at the whole picture before passing judgment. I expect that it's going to be very close on Tuesday and that it's even possible that Obama will get more delegates than Hilary. More power to him - I like both of these candidates!
