EDWARDS FRIENDS: Closing Time (You Don't Have to Go Home, but You Can't Stay Here)
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 01:35 PM by CorpGovActivist
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdmLmIArqWM">I know who I wanted to take us home to the White House: John Edwards.

For all the high-fiving around here about healing and harmony, there are still a lot of us Edwards supporters who saw last night's debate very differently. Obama *should* have been more forceful about fighting the corporatist status quo.

Maybe John will endorse. Maybe the reason his campaign isn't in full-blown wind-down mode is that a deal *was* cut. I hope. God, how I hope.

This sudden rush to pair up the two remaining candidates reminds me of closing time and last call, when standards reach rock bottom, and the dregs are drained from the mugs and from the establishment.

For those who have found coyote ugly love: :toast: <-------- to beer goggles; may you always have a pair handy

An Edwardian annotation to the song appears below for fellow Edwardians. Click on the link above and follow along, if you'd like. This round's on me.

************************************************************************************

Closing time - time for you to go out, go out into the world.

(Yes, go out into the world, and do the things that John and Elizabeth exhorted us to do, my friends.)

Closing time - turn the lights up over every boy and every girl.

(Yes, shed light on them before Tsunami Tuesday.)

Closing time - one last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer.

(The time for tears in our beer is now past.)

Closing time - you don't have to go home but you can't stay here.

(No, we can't stay here in a morose state. We have to wield our remaining influence for Tuesday.)

I know who I want to take me home.

(John)

I know who I want to take me home.

(Elizabeth)

I know who I want to take me home.

(Cate)

Take me home...

(To the Veep's residence, if not the White House)

Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be from.

(A more progressive place now that John has inspired us to our best.)

Closing time - this room won't be open 'til your brothers or you sisters
come.

(Hello, my brothers and sisters. The back room for Edwards is now open.)

So gather up your jackets, and move it to the exits - I hope you have found
a friend.

(Yeah, quite a few.)

Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

(Endings are but beginnings, and John helped set in motion something new and exciting.)

Yeah, I know who I want to take me home.

(John)

I know who I want to take me home.

(Wade)

I know who I want to take me home.

(Emma Claire)

Take me home...

Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be from...

I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
I know who I want to take me home.
Take me home...

5. None of it matters
The nomination will be decided by the Superdelegates. They make up 37 percent of the delegates at the convention. So, if either candidate goes into the convention with less than 60 percent of the delegates in his/her pocket, it will be the Superdelegates who decide.

If voting made any difference, it would be illegal --Emma Goldman

10. Pretty much where I am. Probably where I will stay. I just can't see myself voting for either of
two remaining or the one left standing. If I had wanted to support them, instead of John, I would have. I didn't and I don't.

27. A nod and wink won't do on this. Backchannel fingers to the side of the nose won't do.
The principal - that is to say, the candidate himself - must say, "I watched the debate. I did not see what I needed to see to endorse, or vote for, either of these remaining choices. I'm back in it."

40. Kelli, for whatever reson they took him off the ballot in RI and he asked to be put back
that is all.Probably the state mistakenly removed him thinking he withdrew. He is ON the ballot in the Super Tuesday States.Always has been. But the campaign is still suspended. This isn't a reversal of anything! We can still vote for him and encourge others to but fundamentally nothing has changed. He ISN"T back IN.He was never completely out.He is just back on the Ballot in RI.

That's not nice, in fact, it's ugly to say that about Clinton and Obama.

You should re-assess your Edwardania because he made a fool of you (his supporters) once again. You just don't see it yet.
