When a primary is this close--and it WILL be close, in terms of delegates...

...how can the two candidates NOT end up on the same ticket? Judging by primary attendance alone, this is clearly NOT a "Who Cares" contest. More than half of the country is clamoring for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the White House--why disappoint them?

I'm betting on Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama.

under Obama, who is not only younger but less seasoned, is hard to imagine.

I imagine Obama will need to look elsewhere, but who knows?

8. Obama needs to swallow his pride

5. Edwards has the next biggest number of delegates

and those of us in states where he is still on the ballot can increase that number.

That means the big two will have to court him and possibly adopt one or more of his policies to get his delegates and win the nomination.

My fervent hope is that this is how he'll get his health plan adopted. It's the only one that made any sense at all, providing a back door way to universal single payer through Medicare.

6. There is a political calculation to be made at that time

for either of these candidates. I'm inclined to think Obama would accept with an eye to the future but Clinton would decline with any eye to Majority Leader instead.

No way would Obama want Hill and Bill back in DC. His whole sell is he represents change/the future. Hillary would want Obama as her VP to use him to gain back the support of Black voters, but I don't think he would or should take it after being smeared like he was.

I feel that Obama would, though. However, the same things that concern me about his electability as our nominee make me reluctant to have him as Hillary's VP. Richardson is a much better choice, imo.

13. Makes good sense. I've been thinking it will be Clinton/Obama for a while -

I read recently that Tsunami Tuesdsay has 1,700 delegates available, and that sources in the Hillary camp were saying that their "best case scenario" was Hillary taking 1,100 - leaving 600 to Obama - but this was "best case." It will not be over after the tsunami, although either Hillary or Obama may be the clear favorite at the end of it.

As long as Hillary can keep a tight leash on the Big Dog, and as long as Obama will make nice after each pique-filled incident (pull out her chair to make up for not shaking her hand) and as long as they can keep up the relatively friendly tone we saw in last night's debate, it just has to be both of them on the ticket.
