Richardson to watch Super Bowl with Bill Clinton, possible endorsement Monday?
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/01/richardson-to-watch-super-bowl-with-bill-clinton/

(CNN) — CNN has learned that New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will watch the Super Bowl this Sunday with former President Bill Clinton in Red River, New Mexico.

Despite the obvious implications for the much sought after endorsement of Richardson, a Hispanic who holds sway in the community, a top Democratic source describes this as "two old friends getting together, and not to be "construed as a coming endorsement."

Nonetheless, Richardson is not unaware of the power of that picture. The former president has been phoning Richardson “with regularity” since he dropped out of the Democratic presidential race.

Richardson spokesman Pahl Shipley said the office does not comment on the governor’s private schedule.

1. At this point she certainly needs an endorsement.

2. Also, if Richardson does this, expect Edwards to return the favor by endorsing Obama in time for
Hillary's Hallmark Town Hall.

4. Why would he do that? Is there "bad blood" between JE and BR?
What would compel Edwards to do that?

6. If other former candidates start endorsing there is no reason for Edwards NOT to
His window for endorsments are pretty slim. I think right now he doesn't want to be the first former candidate to endorse someone. If Richardson breaks the ice, why wouldn't get his choice out there?

12. NO--you aren't being responsive. Why would he endorse OBAMA?
Your post insinuates a logic that "If Richardson goes to Clinton, THEN Obama gets Edwards."

I am interested in the thinking that brings you to this conclusion.

15. I think that its amazingly obvious that Edwards, if he makes an endorsment, will give it to Obama
He spent too long turning Hillary into the "status quo" to turn his back on that.

3. Well, that would be one that doesn't have any "blowback" in the General Election.
Moderate and right leaning independents who can't bear the idea of McCain can handle Richardson without any trouble whatsoever. They can't handle Kerry, Kennedy, or MoveOn.Org.

Of course, it's a long road that has no turning...

5. That one doesn't have any "excitement" either. But I guess its a tradeoff. NT

13. It has excitement in the Southwest and in the Hispanic community.
It will get coverage in the "No hablan Ingles" media that many Americans don't see.

8. Since he just met with Obama maybe this is what he had to do to stop
the Obama endorsement. But the fact is if he was really enthusiastic about it old Bill wouldn't have to shlep to New Mexico to sweat it out now would he.
