Kansas Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson today endorsed Barack Obama for president.
His choice came three days after announcement by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of her preference for Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois.
"At a time when bitter partisanship has come to define Washington and stalled progress, Barack Obama stands out as a leader with the unique capacity to unite Americans to take on the challenges we face," Parkinson said.
Parkinson, who left the Republican Party to join the Sebelius ticket in 2006, said he appreciated Obama's ability to "transcend the differences dividing America, bringing Kansans and Americans together to achieve real change.”
The state's Democratic caucus will be Tuesday.
