Old democrats simply don't "get" Obama. Many of them will find much more in common with McCain.

about blacks....hypocrite.

By the way, if you believe in evolution, we ALL came from apes (monkeys)....

Let me just edit for clarity, so you don't go off the deep end;

Humans share a common ancestor with modern African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees. Scientists believe this common ancestor existed 5 to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into two separate lineages. One of these lineages ultimately evolved into gorillas and chimps, and the other evolved into early human ancestors called hominids.

90. If you admit the point pertains even to just 65+ whites, then uh-oh.
Racist or not, if 65+ whites defect to McCain, it is curtains for Obama. I would argue it is more like 45+ and not just whites. The effect would not be racist unless you can show God told you he read people's minds and gave you a report. Jumping to racism to explain away any electability issues Obama might have keeps his supporters blind and offends his potential supporters.

Got to love how obvious this is!

Divide and compartmentalize us all in a neat bunch of jellybeans by color, and then eat each color group, one at a time!

So far, coming from the Hillary Campaign:
Latinos don't vote for Black People
Women should only vote for women
White people don't vote for Black people
Old people don't vote for young candidates
Young people don't vote

Anything else you want to add, while you're at it?

How about Asians? Will they all want to go for the White one too?

LOVES her Obama. I've always been an Edward's supporter, but mom has been firmly in the Obama camp since day one. Whenever she sees him on tv she chokes up and gets all teary eyed. She spends hours channel surfing seeking out "Obama talk". Can't say this behavior is typical, probably not. I think it's really funny though, and it casts doubts on your prediction.

So have many of their friends.

You're just wrong... and plainly desperate.

65. And a huge number of Young voters to replace them
As evidenced by the last four primaries.....you have the poliircalk saavvy of a gypsy moth.

You do not have a shed of of empirical date to support that contention. Not a shred.

74. They are showing up for the primaries...
tht is why the numbers are doubling at each primary and why they are going 70& for Obama. It is generational.

My mother has been enthralled with Obama since she first heard him speak a year ago. She'll vote for him this Nov if he's on the ballot. She's 69. My father and stepmother would never vote for McCain, even if mickey mouse ran for the Dem ticket. They might vote independent, but Obama is not going to cause them to defect. Frankly there are an awful lot of people 65+ who have waited their whole life to vote for someone like obama.

ps -My parents live in Florida and are white. Yeah, this is anecdotal, but I think you're very wrong to claim there wil be a mass exodus, presumbably because Obama is black and young.

75. Now that is a debate I would like to have.
I think you are flat out wrong.

Hillart willhave no coattails....she is going to cause ticket splitting.....Obama will hring millions of voters to the polls and help solidifiy control in any copmpeterd moderate district where the GOP incumbent is the least bit vulnerable.

GOP reps will do very wel running as an incumbent against Hillary rather than the their opponent.

82. You are seriously fucking kidding me.
I'm pretty involved in local politics where I live and we're having a hard time recruiting candidates because they are afraid they don't have a chance with Hillary Clinton at the top of the ticket. She mobilizes the RW base, who are very good at voting R all the way down the ballot. Unfortunately, the Dems and indies who will vote for Clinton will not do that. Thus, we lose local seats. With a less polarizing candidate like Obama, there's a better chance that the wingnuts will stay home.

The ONLY thing that would bring them out in droves to vote in 2008 is Hillary Clinton.

I can't guarantee what Obama's under 30 voting bloc will do. That is all.

And WTF is with this comment? Isn't the OP about Obama alienating older Dems?

and lived through some pretty hard times. It is precisely why they will vote for Obama :-).

100. Well, that definitely doesn't hold up with my experience
The people I know in that age bracket are set on Obama. Some are registered as Republicans, but happily moving in order to support Obama.

In fact, I think the bigger danger to us is if Clinton is the nominee. People will support McCain before Clinton. Obama draws better from independents, and even Republicans -- he'd give McCain a fight for those votes.
