Politics is just like religion
The leaders of both are basically charlatans, telling improbable stories and making absurd promises that they can't keep and don't intend to anyway.

The leaders of both incessantly beg for money. They preach morality but are prone to sexual peccadillos.

Nobody has an open mind. People take sides with incredible fervor, often resorting to violence over differences that are hardly perceptible, or rather, all perception and no substance.

The followers ignore reality. Those who try to point out truths, usually self evident, are shouted down and denounced as unworthy members of society, even put to death.

Fear, prejudice, hatred and ignorance fuel both.

At the end of the day, people believe exactly what they want to believe.

3. The difference is, you have to participate in politics.
Otherwise the worst people win.

And who are the worst people? Those who want you to believe that all political leaders are charlatans.
