Edwards unlikely to endorse before Super Tuesday

Edwards unlikely to endorse before Super Tuesday

(CNN) — Sources close to John Edwards tell CNN not to expect him to endorse either of his former presidential rivals before Super Tuesday. "That's just not something he's going to do," said one source.

The former North Carolina senator’s endorsement would be a coveted prize. His exit from the race leaves unions, editorial boards, elected officials and voters who had backed his run suddenly up for grabs. Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are aggressively courting all of those groups ahead of next week’s crucial Super Tuesday contests in 22 states.

During last night's CNN debate, both candidates repeatedly acknowledged the former candidate's efforts to make the fight against poverty a priority for the Democratic Party.

Friday, the Obama campaign boasted that it was ahead in the race to nab former Edwards supporters, pointing to new endorsements from elected officials in at least eight Super Tuesday states, editorial boards like the Fresno Bee, and labor heavyweights like the Transportation Workers Union and the California branch of the Service Employees International Union, all of whom had previously backed Edwards.

2. Endorsements mean nothing to me.
I don't understand all the fuss about them. Are people so shallow and uneducated that they need to follow someone else? I supported Kucinich then when he dropped out Edwards. Now I am undecided and will most probably stay that way until I vote on Tuesday. Neither candidate thrills me at this point.

9. Edwards isn't running. Neither is endorsing anyone. I understand it'd be nicer for some candidates
if he would, but so far he isn't. I wish he would, but he's got the right to not do so. Why isn't he endorsing? We sure don't know the reason, but I'm SURE there's a reason. With I knew the reason. There's a reason for everything. So far, I don't know and I doubt I'll ever find out.

10. Edwards was running... he had some delegates... he had some supporters
he should be a man about it and his supporters should quit their whining.

7. Obama said in an interview that he's not dealing with Edwards...
...about a place in an Obama administration ~ but that he'd like his endorsement. Wonder if that meant Edwards had tried to make a deal with him.

11. I hope he does not endorse--IMO he would just look Political
His supporters are capable of making up their own minds as to
whom to support.

13. I really don't think Edwards should endorse.
Let Hillary and Barack have it out, and then support the nominee.
