My Sister And I Support Different Candidates: Our Family Has Not Been Torn Apart
I'm supporting Clinton, my sister is supporting Obama. We haven't insulted each other over it. We haven't demeaned each other over it. Neither has our family been torn apart. We talk to each other, we have fun, and we have not come close to calling each other derogatory names over supporting a candidate.

And while we certainly have had some nasty things to say about some of the supporters of the candidates based on factors OTHER than just their support, I think we've had a well understood line in the sand.

We can - and have - disagreed about some issues and the responses of the candidates. And we have both been deeply unhappy about some of the candidate's choices - our own and each others's - but that has never transferred into insulting each other for our support.

I have no criticism of Obama supporters just because they are supporting a candidate I don't. I think Obama has a very good chance to win the primary, and if he does I'll vote for him in the GE. My sister says the same about Clinton.

I don't know why every difference about who we support on DU has to turn into some sort of insult about each other.

1. My sister likes Hucklebee and Romney and we still get along
For most people - we by and large are one America when it counts perhaps with exception of wealth and poverty.

2. I have to admit, if my sister liked eithef of them we'd have to just not talk about it.
But it's kind of inconceivable in my family anyway.

3. I have some friends that are
for Hillary, some that were for Edwards and those have split between Obama and Clinton.
I think the bottom line is respect. We all want the same end, a dem in the WH but just see a different person there for now. Whichever way it goes we will all vote for the nominee in the end.

4. Respect
for both Obama and Hillary. I like the sound of that.

Whichever is elected President will need the help of the other one in the Senate.

The differences between Hillary and Obama in policy are small compared with the differences between either of them and McCain.

Think about it.
