A bit of non-Western wisdom for the primaries: the story of Emon Saburo
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 04:41 PM by CorpGovActivist
Once upon a time, I was attacked viciously on a message board, for challenging the prevailing orthodoxy. It was not DU.

One poster, in particular, grew increasingly virulent and rabid. I took a lot of abuse.

Imagine my surprise one day, when - after the very thing I'd been predicting came to pass - he changed his screenname, apologized publicly, and http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=emon+saburo">related to me the story of Emon Saburo.

I especially like this http://thetempleguy.com/articles/religion/emon_saburo.htm">telling and the accompanying pictures on this linked site.

A DUer who does not agree with your candidate's policies or your choice of him or her as the nominiee is not necessarily your adversary.

The beggar at your door, asking for facts about your candidate, is not worthy of abuse.

1. Very Well Put...
Too many times will you find those who are so wrapped up in a campaign that they don't realize you are not trying to smear their candidate but instead warn them. The number one problem is politics itself. When one says something negative about a candidate, that supporter automatically assumes you have dishonest intentions to smear or mischaracterize. Politics, blinds people.... it's hard but even when dealing with politics one must remain as objective as possible.

2. I've learned to keep my own counsel on political picks.
I've also learned that rabid responses to uncomfortable questions usually can be explained by a very small number of explanations.
