1. More "truth"
Truth = "What I want to believe in -- and you better believe it, too!"

8. Aren't you the person who believes the DLC is a social drinking club?
And now you are expounding on truth?

By the way, you never answered any of the good people you asked for information from, even to thank them.

Is that polite? Truthfully?

13. You mean like THIS good person ...
"I know the OP was disingenuous. That's why I tried to cut to the chase.

My guess is the OP approves of the agenda of the DLC. Since the OP also knows that most people don't approve of the DLC's agenda once they understand what that agenda is, the strategy is to create a false dichotomy in the hope that people will assume the DLC is just a social club without an agenda that might effect them. Anyone who then suggests the DLC has an agenda (in the OPs mind) is then made to appear to be paranoid.

You are right that it's extremely transparent. It's amazing to me how often people attempt this style of persuasion

Thanks for the complement
(sic)."

(Emphasis is mine.)

My guess is that the guy who wrote that is not only the most intelligent person he knows, but also thinks nothing of a little defamatory mind-reading. Additionally, he seems to get his kicks from public ridicule of individuals who do not see things his way.

Feel free to assure him that I actually think of the DLC as a powerless anachronism, and that the prevalent DLC paranoia is a waste of time. The GOP is the real problem -- IMHO, of course.

On the other hand, he probably doesn't care what I think, since he is sure he can read my mind.

Now that you have reminded me of my social obligations, I will return to the thread, in spite of the catty hostility there, and thank the good people. (There might even be a couple of them. Good people, I mean.) It will also have the effect of kicking the thread back to the top of the queue for further discussion.

And I do hope that fellow doesn't take it as a psychological "black op" from the demonic DLC. But that's his problem, isn't it?

Politely,

--p!

14. Hillary wastes her time with a powerless anachronistic group? Maybe that's why she's slipping
in the polls.

Wasting time drinking in a social club instead of taking care of business.

Hillary is on their leadership team.

From left to right: Harold Ford, Jr. is chairman of the DLC. U.S. Sen. Tom Carper is vice chair of the DLC; U.S. Sen.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is chair of the DLC's American Dream Initiative; Al From is founder and CEO of the DLC. (Not pictured: Bruce Reed is DLC president; Pennsylvania State Representative Jennifer Mann is chair of the DLC's Legislative Advisory Board (LAB); Columbus (OH) Mayor Michael Coleman is chair of the DLC's Local Elected Officials Network(LEON).)

I wouldn't call Hill (or any of the group) powerless, but Hillary could rightly be called an anachronism I suppose.

3. They demanded war with Iraq in 1998! Bill rebuffed their efforts.
and Hillary (if she is correct in her "experience" claim) knew this. But still cast a vote the has killed 1 million people.

4. AND OBAMA DID SAY IT
"What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne."

Not only did he oppose the war, he called out the neocon ideology way way way before most people had any idea that a neocon even existed.

11. Facts Folks
Bill Clinton bombed Iraq for 4 days. Everyone thought there was a threat. There were no fly zones for Saddam in the north and south.
I have always been against this war, before the vote. But, facts are facts. PNAC's letter isn't new to us and doesn't justify this reasoning.
