Can a bald man be president?
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 02:46 AM by ugdude
I dont think so. Everybody is so fucking superficial. How dare they fucking impose their beliefs on things the person cant control.

This is such a fucking circus, why were Dodd, Richardson and Kuchinich kicked out? Because they werent goodlooking enough.

Land of the free indeed.

1. It is the land of the free..
If people choose to vote on looks that is their perogative. Being bald shouldn't matter but for some people they are turned off by the image.

23. The problem is people should not be voting on such a premise
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 03:31 AM by TheWatcher
They should be voting on a candidate based on the Issues, and what they can do for the country.

And we wonder how everything got so fucked up to begin with.

Land Of The Free?

Now there's a debatable subject.

They have faithfully alternated between bald and "hairy" leaders since Lenin.

To those who said Gerald Ford. he wasn't elected, Nixon resigned and he got in the back door.

Eisenhower was the last one before the big tv era took off. People listened to radios more before then. And he got in because he was a war hero.

If you're a war hero you have a small chance (McCain), only because it offsets how weak looking bald makes someone (with the strength of a war hero).

LBJ wasn't really elected IMO. He was, but he wasn't.

Kennedy got shot down, and LBJ was his vice. How were they going to, defacto, reject Kennedy's legacy by voting for Goldwater?

LBJ didn't really win, Kennedy did. If he had run on his own merits, he would have never won a presidential election because of his lack of hair.

14. Eisenhower did it.
Giuliani was considered the frontrunner for a long time, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't his baldness that did him in. (And thank God he finally got rid of that horrible combover he used to have). McCain has a combover, and Al Gore has had a bald spot for as long as I can remember. It's definitely a factor, but I don't think it's quite as much of a factor as people think.

Now, could a short guy get elected? I doubt it, and as a short guy, that pains me. Thankfully, I have no aspirations to be president. :)

I disagree, Rudy went down because of his lack of hair. It made him seem 'ghoulish', like a ghoul, and made his scandals matter (whereas a pol with good hair, is teflon, and people ignore scandals).

As for Gore, it was known by his campaign that they made huge efforts to hide his baldspot in 2000 by making him use a kind of paint on product on the back of his head to disguise it. And he lost to Bush because of the baldspot. It easily cost him thousands of votes, which swayed it.

McCain is like Eisenhower, as I said before, only a war hero can offset the weakness of bald.

Romney is only even in the top 2 because of his hair. Only his hair. He's Mormon (right wing hates Mormons), and is the worst politician ever with his flops.

22. Is this a joke?
Gore lost because of his hair?

The only reason Romney is in the top two is because of his hair?

Weakness = bald?

Wow, I think someone might get banned if they used that same comparison to the weight of women.

That's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm sincere. I've been in need of a good laugh for a long time. Your words are gold:

Governor is no President. Clearly you can be a governor (Corzine) or Senator, etc, etc.

Just not President.

But Ventura is a good case. If you're bald, it's helpful to be a war hero or a wrestler or maybe a serial killer? The more alpha and dominant your previous job, the better to offset the hair.

What about Al Gore -- wasn't he using spray-on hair or was that a rumor?

No, listen. Listen. My book fully probes the Gore situation. I believe that he was not using a spray-on product. I am convinced from my sources -- and, as you know, I work for the New York Post so I have fairly good sources in the bald community -- and they tell me he was using a shake-on product. That's that product called Toppik.
