16. Oh I saw it, but see I bothered to get the facts on Hillarys plan too
there is an option for a government insurance plan for everyone. THAT MEANS NO PRIVATE INSURANCE for anyone who prefers.

12. Dude.
They DO garnish your wages EVERY PAYCHECK its called INCOME TAX it goes to BLACKWATER and LOCKHEED MARTIN and MANY others. UNLIKE THIS Hillary's plan doesn't require you pay into corporations you can opt to pay the GOVERNMENT for your coverage INSTEAD, just like SINGLE PAYER systems.

27. Tell ya what .... lets get them to put the INCOME TAX I ALREADY PAY ....
towards true Universal Healthcare ... rather than put into these Military Industrial Complexes cronies pockets ..... then you won't need to decide who can and can't afford healthcare by garnishing peoples wages further. Just a thought? This idea of Hillary's seems way off the mark in my estimation. Peace.

31. Wrong. The plan will not get through Congress like that.
The insurance lobby will make sure that only the poor and uninsurable will be able to use the government plan. Everyone else will have to buy private insurance. Mark my words.

6. NO! NOT IN FANTASYLAND!!!
Fantasyland is in Europe, they have single payer health care that's the best in the world, except nobody pays for it!!! Or rather they are not mandated to pay for it, because though they have taxes, they are fantasyland optional taxes! You can pay them if you want!!! So nobody is mandated!!!

:sarcasm:

for the insurance companies, having the power of the federal government being used to take people's money and handing it over to them?

32. I DID- and she was referring to that same plan she had just mentioned!
"similar to Medicare"??

Boy, she's stretching it, if she thinks you get a plan "similar to Medicare" just by pooling people to buy from PRIVATE insurance companies.

If she had an actual single-payer plan, government administered and paid for those who can not afford insurance, you can damned well bet she'd be making that clear.

YOU, sir, are hanging your hopes on a flat-out distortion.

15. here is the difference
When the govt takes money out of your wages to pay for SS, the program is not for profit and uses only 1% of the revenue for overhead with 99% going for benefits. If we let Hillary do her thing, she is going to be taking money out of people's wages to make rich CEO's even richer.

Maybe 1/3 dollars they steal from you will goto health care, with 1/3 going to corporate profit, and the other 1/3 going to overhead. If everyone wants universal healthcare, great, but don't be reaching into working class people's pockets to pay back the millions that corporate lobbyists gave Hillary. Not-for-profit or status quo should be the choices, not "lets help ins cos and big pharma rob us even more".

19. The funny thing is...
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 05:47 PM by Abacus
After the LA debate, Hillary supporters jumped on Obama for mandated health care for children, with possible fines for non-compliance. Now that Hillary's mandate for all would be enforced with fines, said fines are suddenly acceptable.

I don't like the idea of a fine or jail time enforced mandate, I'd rather go single payer, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. In absence of a single payer system, I prefer Obama's plan, which emphasizes reduced costs. I have little issue with fee enforced mandated coverage for children who are unable to otherwise procure insurance for themselves.
