Shriver's endorsement is not just fluff.
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 06:11 PM by cali
Guess what the headlines in all the major CA Monday Papers are going to be? Yep. That's right. And she's very popular. It may by itself not sway many voters but it it'll dominate tomorrow's news cycle with only one day to go. And that's priceless.

1. It's a good endorsement at the right time. Another Kennedy in O's Column.
I just don't know how many people are swayed by endorsements.

23. I'm Not Swayed
I'm one of the hardheads who makes up her own mind.

But you know, the heavy Kennedy endorsements have been bothering me. Not the FACT of the endorsements as much as the Camelot comparisons being drawn to the late JFK and then RFK. I've been rather vocal in my upset about cloaking the living man in the golden shrouds of the martyred, so to speak.

This morning, I woke up with a hunch about it. If anyone else has suggested the same, I apologize.

Would it be beyond the realm of possibility that Obama has neither Clinton nor Edwards at the top of his unspoken VP list, but a member of the Kennedy family?

Yes, I'm certain that some of you will say I'm full of it and start hooting. Amen.

But...if....who??? And would it be a bad idea at all against (probably) McCain?

30. The Camelot comparisons only bother me because
some racist will at least try to shoot Barack in the head during his first term.

can't get along, fall in love with each other and have a normal relationship apart from their political disagreement.

sorry, pumpkin, this is a big deal endorsement. Shriver is the First Lady of CA and a Kennedy. It's an endorsement that will get HUGE coverage throughout the state, the day before the election. And that coverage will crowd out anything about Hilly.

18. The Clinton people: Oh Sheit!!
What must it be like in the Clinton campaign now. They have to find their own "surprise endorsement" for Hillary's fake Hallmark infomercial tomorrow. I suggest Rosalyn Carter - wait no she and Jimmie are for Obama too!

That's why he dropped out of the Nevada Primaries right before they were gonna happen.

That's ok. The Native American Times endorsed Obama, and so, Obama will have Native American support there.

Carter Stays Neutral in Race,
But Praises Obama's Oratory
By DOUGLAS A. BLACKMON
January 30, 2008; Page A4

PLAINS, Ga. -- Former President Jimmy Carter lavished praise on Illinois Sen. Barack Obama during an interview at his home on Monday, though he won't formally endorse any candidate in the race for the Democratic nomination.

"Obama's campaign has been extraordinary and titillating for me and my family," Mr. Carter said. The 83-year-old former president, who left the White House in 1981, compared Mr. Obama's speeches to those of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and said he believed the candidate could carry some southern states if he becomes the Democratic nominee.

----

But more than once he has given public signals of encouragement to politicians he likes. In August, he introduced Sen. John Edwards, who now trails Mr. Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic nominating contest, at an event held near Plains.

Mr. Carter said he has had limited direct contact with Mr. Obama but has been particularly impressed with the candidate's recent public appearances. "He has an extraordinary oratory...I think that Obama will be almost automatically a healing factor in the animosity now that exists, that relates to our country and its government."
