Regardless of who she decides to support - she shouldn't make that decision because she is AA or because she's a woman. And it's ignorant for anyone to tell her she's betraying one or the other, or selling them out - etc.
I'm getting sick and f'n tired of reading posts about stupid people making decisions to vote for someone JUST because of race or gender. I don't even think that should be a single deciding factor.
I haven't decided between either candidate (I'm an Edwards supporter), but if somebody bases their decision on something Oprah said or did, they're a fucking idiot.
...it will moved Obama another couple points UP in the polls....
My wife gave a big "hell yeah!" when Oprah said that. Please.... marginalize Hillary as the candidate for women who can't think for themselves (a VERY small group, as most women are intelligent enough to make their decisions with no respect to gender).
11. Anyone who criticized Oprah for having her own opinion deserve much worse than simple jest!
the backlash she suffered from expressing her constitution right to free speech and her decision to endorse another candidate was totally ridiculous.
Blind loyalty at the expense of civility does this country no good. That's what we have suffered with Bush supporters for the last 8 years and their refusal to take their blinders off cost our country.
Oprah obviously didn't let the narrow minded simpletons who chose to bash her get to her. She has the courage of her convictions and I salute her for that.
"How could you Oprah? You're a traitor to your own gender."
"The truth is, I'm a FREE woman. And being free, means you get to think for yourself and you get to decide for yourself what to do. So I say I am NOT a traitor; no I'm just following my own truth and that truth has led me to Barack Obama!"
nice campaign rally today. I've never listened to her before, but I listened today, and she did a great job. Anyone who posts part of her speech will be doing the Obama campaign a favor.
Seriously...some Dems called her a traitor for not supporting Hillary since she is female, and she responds that she is free to make her mind up just as any and all of us are. Try to take a step back and use your reasoning skills a little before you respond.
quite a substantial post on your part, by the way. It didn't address any aspect of the problem you had with the response by Oprah. If someone were to call you a traitor for not voting for your gender, would you not issue a candid response?
of using unity as a focal point. With the polarized nature of politics, it must be hard to keep all individuals who represent the campaign to stay on message, but I can't say I would have done anything differently being passionate and all.
on her show!!! Sometimes she will have someone on there that has a British accent and she will start talking like that. She especially loves to imitate people that come on with a southern accent. If people try to make a big thing about that they are going to look so STUPID if she releases footage from her show where she does it all the time. And she does not do it out of disrespect. So keep trying to make something of it (this is to the original poster).
