20,000 attend Obama rally in Delaware
It was an electric atmosphere, full house. Obama, surprisingly for a politician, showed up on time. The two gubernatorial candidates, Lt. Gov. John Carney and treasurer Jack Markell, were both on hand for the event and, in a very nice moment of unity, stood together on the stage, plugged Obama and then linked arms with Obama in the middle when Barack got on stage. So there is at least one example of Obama delivering unity. :evilgrin: He praised Delaware's senators, Tom Carper, and Joe Biden at the start of the speech. He was particularly complimentary of Biden. Barack spoke for about 50 minutes. I expected a shorter speech. He covered his entire vision for America in the speech and had substantial doses of his compelling biography. He took a handful of swipes, some overt and some veiled, at Hillary. He did mention Edwards toward the end and praised Edwards for lifting the issue of poverty onto the national conciousness. It sounded sincere. However, Obama sullied it by then attacking Hillary and Edwards' responses to the Nevada "what is your greatest weakness?" question as a product of what happens when you stay in Washington too long. Obama should put his positive words about Edwards somewhere else in his speech. I was always dismissive of the "hope" thing. No more. I saw it in the faces that were lit up as they saw Barack walk onto stage, the eyes that gazed intently at Obama during his speech as if to say "Save us from our present course Barack!", and the joy in young and old at what Barack represents. I was particularly moved to hear a conversation between two very young African-American boys as we left the rally. They were about 4 and 5. One mentioned how Barack might be the first black president. The other said that maybe he too could someday become president then! That is something I could never have imagined when I was their age. All in all I feel a lot better about Obama afterwards then I did before. He is an exceptionally gifted speaker and is very good at knowing when to insert his jabs, aside from the Vegas debate one, and uses humor very strategically.

6. Yes, and it was probably to 'upstage'
the event planned for Hillary;

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend Stumps for Clinton in Wilmington;

WILMINGTON -- How can a woman with leadership qualities pursue the United States' top elected office without being assigned nasty labels or "emasculating" the men around her? That was the question Kathleen Kennedy Townsend posed to about a dozen people, most of them women, who gathered at Kid Shelleen's restaurant Saturday morning to discuss the campaign of Hillary Clinton.

Townsend knows a bit about the intersection of politics and leadership. She is the daughter of the late U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated when she was 16 years old, shortly after he won the California primary in June 1968. She is also the former lieutenant governor of Maryland.

Her uncle, U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, her cousin Caroline Kennedy, and her mother Ethel Kennedy all have endorsed Clinton's primary opponent, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

Townsend said she has known Clinton for 25 years and said Clinton has what it takes to accomplish real change -- experience, perseverance, and the ability to work with those who disagree with her.

5. Thanks for the recap!
It's very much appreciated.

I can't believe Obama brought 20,000 to little old Delaware.

What's your thought about Delaware, jackson? Will Obama win that state? Will he decisively win in Delaware?
