How are Hillary's crowds? Are they overflowing like Obama's?
If so, the MSM isn't reporting this. Anyone have any data on this?

1. the only crowds that matter...
...are the ones that show up 2/5. We're not electing a rock star-we're choosing our candidate for president.

9. So...does this mean no huge crowds for Hillary? I do get that...

the crowds don't always translate into vote advantages...NH certainly showed us this. I was just wondering about the numbers.

4. In Mpls, Obama got 18,000 on Sat. Hillary got 4,000 yesterday
Dean also got big crowds in Iowa, and he came in 3rd.

As the other posters have said, the only crowd that matters it the one that shows up tomorrow.

5. I did read that 2000 came out to see her
in the St. Louis area event that she had there yesterday. That contrasts with the 20,000
that came out for Obama Saturday night in St. Louis.

15. You are right.
I am sure it was hard to compete at that time. Wonder why she even tried?

8. Proof?
Do you have proof of this statement?

Just because you hope Dean brought in huge crowds in 2004 doesn't make it so.

14. Um, Dean was drawing 10K per event. Unheard of in modern
political history for a primary.

His problem is that they were in Washington, Illinois and California. Iowa, not so much. The poster you responded to is correct.

SEATTLE - AUGUST 24: An estimated 10,000 supporters greet Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean during his "Sleepless Summer Tour" August 24, 2003 in Seattle, Washington. The ten-city four-day tour is intended to highlight Dean's grassroots support while attacking President Bush's ...

10. Yes they are--and of course the MSM isn't reporting it.
I was at a rally for Hillary here in Albuquerque Saturday night. It was in the gym of a high school in a working class neighborhood, and it was at night. It's damned cold here at night these days, and people were still lined up down the street and around the block.

As for the demographics of the crowd, I was surprised to see that it was essentially the same as the group that showed up to see Bill at UNM's Johnson Center Thursday afternoon: about half us aging Boomers, and half 20-somethings or younger. Not surprising at UNM in the afternoon, way surprising--at least to me--on a cold Saturday night in that area of town.

As for the actual numbers, I dunno. Coupla thousand for Bill, even though at the main entrance they were turning away anyone who didn't have a Lobo card (UNM student/staff/faculty ID). Said it was on orders of the Secret Service.

Hillary's crowd was probably twice that; the gym was packed.

Also, someone posted an account on one of the other blogs of a Hillary rally in the L.A. area which drew something like 10,000, with some having camped overnight to be sure to get in.

So she seems to be doing well--not that you'd ever know it if you depend on the MSM to tell you about it.

12. Would be nice to hear more about this...thanks!
I really would like to hear numbers from both candidates' crowds if they're gonna give them. Regardless of how this translates into votes.

11. Let us be honest. Reporters with credibility have explained
all along and just this week. Hilary Crowds go to Obama Rallies
and Republicans go to Obama Rallies--to see the Candidate and
hear him speak. Knowing full well they are going to vote for
HRC or the GOP candidate.

Can obama draw a crowd---no one has ever said he cannot. Crowds
do not automatily translate to votes

I must give CNN and others credit for trying to keep a bit of
reality in the news reporting.

I vividly remember a reporter in NH covering Obama carefully
pointing out that the humongous crowd had Hilary supporters
and Gop Supporters and people just wanting to hear Obama.
