Why do I believe Obama will win? Look no farther then very red Idaho.
For a few years, I lived not far from the Idaho boarder in Montana - and if your looking for a state about as red as they come - look to Idaho.

What happened this weekend when Obama showed up in Boise is unprecedented in that part of the country.

More than 14,000 very enthusiastic people showed up!

In Idaho!

For a Democrat!

“I’ve been around a long time, and I’ve seen a lot of political candidates come and go,” former Governor Cecil D. Andrus said in introducing Obama. “I have not seen since John F. Kennedy in 1960, a candidate that has the capacity to unite and inspire the people of America like Barack Obama.”

Some folks have complained that because Obama attracts indies and even rethugs, he is not 100% pure Dem. On the contrary, our party has always been one of inclusiveness - it's the rethugs that demand their foot soldiers march in lock step.

Obama not only has appeal which reaches across party lines, he has an appeal which reaches across international lines.

He has a tangible ability to inspire and bring people together in a way we have not seen on our political landscape for decades. Believe me, if over 14,000 people can show up for Obama in Idaho - we will see many millions show up for him tomorrow! And like the pundits were in Idaho, look to be surprised in a very good way!

GoBama!!! :applause:

6. Between Missoula and Lolo Pass...
In the woods and snow.

What a beautiful place it was --- lived there back in the mid 80's.

Now I hear the wood smoke/inversions over the Missoula Valley clogs things up a bit; but to be able to head in any direction on a beautiful summer day - hike to amazing vista's - and maybe run into one or two other people (more bears then people) - just amazing!!!

Also spent time in the Bitteroots, Mission, range - quality time also along the blue Salmon & Snake rivers in ID.

One thing about Idaho (away from Boise) - you can sure see ALL the stars at night!

4. Obama does best in the states with the highest proportion of DLC kind of Democrats
Obama does have broad appeal but he has 0 chance of winning Idaho in the general. Those 14,000 people who showed up were mostly Democrats, mainly conservative DLC types, but Democrats. There needs to be realism regarding Obama. A strong case can be made that he will excel in some swing states and maybe even win a few red states but places like Idaho and Utah are not on that list. He is doing well among Democrats there because they have very conservative Democrats relative to Democrats nationally.

5. That's More People Than Caucused in 2004
that blows my mind. I hope this is a real wake up call now and in the future that caucus vote is "the most important" vote!
