the new McCain ad makes *no* sense
It starts out with this: "As a prisoner of war, John McCain was inspired by Ronald Reagan."

Huh? Very awkward wording - it makes it appear that he was inspired by Reagan while he was a POW.

I suppose the point was just to cram both the POW and the Reagan pandering in a single ad, but it sounds really dumb. Let's hope the remainder of his advertising is this bad.

1. He claims he was inspired by Reagan as governor of CA
That he and the guys sat around in the POW camp talking about how great Reagan was.

Good god, are republicans really stupid enough to buy that crap? (answer to rhetorical question: yes)

6. really?
That's an odd claim - you'd think the governor of California wouldn't exactly be high on the list of things you'd be talking about during the rare events you'd get to communicate with your fellow prisoners. I thought he was in solitary most of the time - ?

PULEEEEEEEEZE! Are even Republicans that stupid? Come on they were probably tapping about how the hell they were going to get out of there.....or their families....or Joey Heatherton or WHATEVER but not some fucking GOVERNOR!

2. Back when he was a POW...
The NV would torture him by showing him old Reagan movies. I think that's what he's talking about.

3. He's always trying to complete the circle with his POW-ness--
Edited on Mon Feb-04-08 07:33 PM by wienerdoggie
his Christmas ad was about being a POW, and here I think he's talking about being inspired by Reagan when Reagan was Gov of CA--although who cares who's governor when you live in a bamboo cage on the other side of the world, I don't know. Reminds me of that Seinfeld when Costanza wanted to eat a sandwich, watch TV and have sex at the same time. McCain's trying to lump it all together, a little too hard.

4. That's the message I got - that while he was a POW
he was inspired by Reagan. Who, btw was the Governor of California in the years McCain was a POW>

It's ludicrous :eyes: and besides that did you catch the picture of McCain at the end? It's at least 20 years old. Guess they are afraid to use a current photo.

9. Very poorly worded.
Mind you, it's not going to stop people from living on emotions rather than looking at any historical data.

Besides, anyone remembering the 80s - and not for its music or styles (a lot of which could replace Castor oil by the time 1985 occurred...) - would know the job market was not pretty.

Even if McCain mentioned Eisenhower, who'd believe him?

was inspired by the Ayatollah Khomeini.
